Well now that we are back in the house, we are doing little fixes. Although the garage isn't considered living space, they did refinish it to an extent. Recessed lighting, baseboards, new drywall etc.
CINC Household, will pour a leveler primer down, then the leveler, she'll paint the walls, and fix the baseboards, and lay new flooring. On one side of the garage Marty Feldman did the baseboard as it's several inches off level (Cropped a pic to show it). Regardless it's a nice clean slate to work with. The door will be replaced with a reinforced insulated door, until we can get someone to enclose it. HVAC guy will be coming out to re-run the ducting and get is climate controlled again.

What's a man cave? Oh wait, guns and ammo on the walls, big TV, icebox full of ice cream, huge cigar humidor, disassembled carburetor on the table, lots of tools. Pretty much like my whole place. The floor is that far off?
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Lordy, I wish I had a space that clean...!!!
Re: Future Man-Cave
There is a 1/2 to maybe a 3/4 inch drop across the garage, they do it to allow water to drain out to the driveway. It's enough to drive OCD people insane. There are a few low spots here and there which is a pain in the ass. Had a chair that would rock due to that.Junk Yard Dog wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 7:18 pm What's a man cave? But whoever put the baseboard in on that side, was blind as hell as, i put a level on it and it's way off. There is a pretty level and consistent gap on the one side of the garage, then there is the ski slope on the other side, where the baseboard goes uphill suddenly. He must have had one too many Modelos.
Don't smoke in the house, so I use to smoke my cigars in the garage, or out back when I let the dogs out. Now it's outside period, since they went ahead and redid the garage......
It'll get the same flooring as the main house.

LOL, it'll be better once it's painted and the flooring is put down. Then it'll fill up with gun racks, work bench, cabinets, couch, big TV (To be used as a TV, secondary computer monitor, and to hook the X Box 1 to).

I've got some laminate in one bath that looks like slate, it would be awesome in that cave.

I agree, but CINC Household has informed me that she'll use the same flooring that is in the house already for continuity.steelbuttplate wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 9:35 amI've got some laminate in one bath that looks like slate, it would be awesome in that cave.
I'm just looking forward to seeing it come together finally. Until then I'm just so damn happy to be in our house again, sleeping in my own bed, etc. The downside is getting everything back in the house. One pod is empty, but the second pod has garage attic, and man cave/gun room stuff, can't move any of that until the garage floor is leveled. I hate waiting, but it's not a quick easy project/process.
Cable guys come Thursday to hook up new cable, need to get hold of the satellite people and get that stuff turned in. Damn contractors broke 3 of the 5 cables, drywalled over two of the cable outlets that they broke the cables to. Plus they paneled and drywalled over the area where the box was that I ran my security camera cables into. So now I got to measure to make sure I drill the hole in the right place. Buy a new box as they threw mine away, before we start running the cams again.

Re: Future Man-Cave
Is this level of unprofessionalism typical of Florida contractors? That would never fly here, broken cables, that shit in the garage, the building inspectors would be crawling up their asses so far they would be tasting brylcream. This is not the only time I have heard about this sort of thing down there, not even the fifth or sixth time. I hate that sort of shit. Motivation is probably needed, these are your balls in this jar, I will give them back to you once the job you should have done right the first time is completed to my satisfaction. Now stop all the screaming and crying and get to fuckin work.
