I am new to Mosin Nagants as well as this forum to please be patient. I just acquired this 91/30 and am hoping to get help identifying this rifle. I put chalk in the markings from the barrel. Also, the bolt is blued if that makes a difference. Can anyone tell me more about what i have here?
Thanks!

It looks like a Finnish capture 1940 Izhevsk.

You actually have a German captured Mosin that was later sold to Finland. The blued bolt and polished rear sight are signs of WW2 German rework. The double 8 sided star stamp visible on the stock is also a depot rework stamp found on German reworked rifles from several different countries. What you have is a Mosin that was captured by the Germans on the Eastern front, reworked and then used by them in some capacity. In August 1944 German sold 57,000 captured Mosin's to Finland, yours was likely part of this sale. Most of these Mosin's arrived in poor condition and were parted out by the Finn's so it's uncommon to find a complete example. Nice find indeed. Post some more pictures, any markings on the underside of the stock behind the trigger guard? What do the numbers stamped on the bolt look like?

Thanks for that great info SSG_lord! Here are some more pics. I saw no markings on the stock but there are many more markings on the underside of the barrel shank. This has a pretty nice trigger as well, I don't have the machine but it seems less than 6 lbs. I really appreciate your information!

The Finns' were masters at taking a pile of spare parts and working them into a fantastic rifle. If the rifle was captured or acquired matters very little to me as it didn't mean a lot to them either. the job was to prepare rifles & or repurpose parts into rifles. And fine rifles they are. To me a Finn is a Finn.... An excellent gun.
Congrats on getting a fine example!!!
