Besides Mosins, I also hoard kinves. I am not a collector, as I don't catalog the things, but I own something over 100. I am really partial to the old four blade camp knives and have a wad of them by various makers. It poking through eBay last week, I found this one at what I considered a fair price. It is a real unusual blade. It is Much like the military Mil K style, but a tad smaller and with smaller cap lifter and can opener. I have looked all over the net and found where two had been sold sometime back, and one discussion on a knife forum. Even on the knife forum, no one had any real knowledge of where they came from and how they were marketed. My best guess is that they were gifts given by drug companies to druggists, but it is only a guess. This one is all stainless steel, down to the pins. It was made by Imperial, and it looks like the tang date goes back to the early 60s, but even that is not a certainty. I figured that I would take this down to the sleazy minute market where the drug dealers hang out and see if someone wants it. Maybe I could swap it for some crack. I have never tried it, but it must be damn good as many people in my area that are hooked on the stuff. ;)
It was a little buggered when I got it but I have made is somewhat respectable and you could shave yourself with it.
Everyone will recognize the RX part as being pharmacy related, but the other device engraved on the handle is an old apothecary symbol that was used in the old days to designate a druggist, much as a barber pole was used for barbers. The symbol is a jar of some kind.

It's a cocaine knife. Big blade for chopping rock, flat screwdriver for picking up a toot, the opener is for, opening the beer, and the little spike for stabbing coke bugs

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Drugs are big in my small county. Our largest employer is a pot growing business. Our population is about 43,000 for the whole 529 square mile county. In the last 7 days we have had nine drug deaths related to fentanyl. So far, the county has not identified the type of drug that is killing people. You would think that after a few autopsies, that they would know. Of course, we are next door to a county that found human remains (skeleton) in the woods, the sheriff announced that the death was suspected to be a murder. When taken to the State Crime Lab. the bones were immediately recognized of being those of a bear, much to the embarrassment of the local coroner.

The local coroner is also the town undertaker and brother in law of the Judge? If he was a trained medical professional and failed to recognize an animal skeleton labeling it human instead he would lose my business right quick. I think some agencies are starting to see drug deaths as pest control, available resources need to be targeted at crimes the general public cares about, like homicide, rape, assault, and theft. I can understand the sentiment, recreational drug use is a personal choice, the risks are widely publicized, and drug users cost the working public billions of dollars every year. If someone's personal choice gets them killed then it's their own fault, they were warned over and over. The destruction these individuals leave in their wake can be staggering to behold. I for one am tired of playing nice with drug using shitbags, let them hotshot and be gone.

A skinned out bear looks like a mans body. There is usually bear hair where there are bones though.

I do believe that the head was missing from the skeleton, and that may have been the reason the coroner may have thought that foul play was involved.steelbuttplate wrote: ↑Fri Jul 08, 2022 6:13 pm A skinned out bear looks like a mans body. There is usually bear hair where there are bones though.
