Where can I find disk-style 7.62x54R headspace gauges like Okie or Firewerks?
Where can I find disk-style 7.62x54R headspace gauges like Okie or Firewerks?
I just procured a sweet M-38 in great condition that is not counterbored. I would like to find a set of the disk-style headspace gauges that do not require the removal of the extractor. Is there a current source for these?

I don't know if anyone is making them currently. Okie passed a way, and I don't know anything about fire werks.

I was looking for a set a few months ago and looked everywhere for them with no luck. I posted a post in the Wanted section of the board and got a set from a fellow board member that was no longer using them. I would post there and see if there is anyone else that no longer needs their old set as I dont think there is anyone currently producing new ones. Good Luck.

I responded to him in a PM that I had a set I would sell, but he might not be recovered from the price I quoted.fchaus wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 3:31 pm I was looking for a set a few months ago and looked everywhere for them with no luck. Yeah, I'll sell him mine for 1/2 of what you probably quoted him! $500SA1911a1 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 5:12 pmI responded to him in a PM that I had a set I would sell, but he might not be recovered from the price I quoted.fchaus wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 3:31 pm I was looking for a set a few months ago and looked everywhere for them with no luck. We need to find a "machinist" that can make these again. Our last one (who passed away) didn't stop making them because he passed, but because the Firewerks" cut his price so bad and Mosin sales plummeted.
Firewerks is gone. Maybe someone could make a little money on the side now.

The truth is I offered the set of three for a hundred bucks. Does that make me a thief?Darryl wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 6:09 pmYeah, I'll sell him mine for 1/2 of what you probably quoted him! Todd told me that firewerks gauges were cheap counterfeits of his Okie gauges. The guy placed an order with him and then reversed engineered them. Todd was pissed because he said they were nothing like the quality of his gauges. He said the specs were crap on them and they were made with inferior materials compared to his.

The fire ones came from China I think. Most cheap knockoffs do.

Jim they're made in the US. The guy still has a website and get this, he stole the idea from Todd and has this on his site "THE ORIGINAL STAINLESS STEEL COIN-STYLE HEADSPACE GAUGE. Firewerks headspace gauges are the only coin-style gauges on the market that are made from stainless steel." and then this further down "Made in the USA." Todd knew the guy and had done business with him in some respect. Todd told me he was subletting the manufacture of them to some here in the US and they was not in spec and were being made with inferior materials. You know Todd he took pride in his product so besides them being knockoffs of his they were junk knockoffs.Junk Yard Dog wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 3:10 am The fire ones came from China I think. Todd was about to branch out into bullet style gauges. Just before he passed I sent him a bunch of Forrester gauges to take measurements from, but he never had the chance to start the project. The pandemic shutdowns and supply issues probably put paid the fire guy. That would have been a bad time to be depending on outside suppliers for your business's merchandise. Todd made everything in house by himself. I checked the fire web page, still listing as out of stock. Another sociopath involved in business, to such types profit justifies anything they do, and they sleep like baby's afterward.WeldonHunter wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 3:27 amJim they're made in the US. If you're still looking for a real set of 7.62x54R headspace gauges MoGunner has an Okie set for sale in the market place here on the forum and at about what we were paying for them when Todd was still making them. Go here: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=35766&sid=92ea7f9a ... 4f790170cb
