M28-30, refurb characteristics
Haven’t received my M28/30 yet, but I’m having second thoughts on what I bought. Apparently the seller bought this 10 to 20 years ago. Hopefully some of youse can clarify what I took a bite on,

Looks fine to me.
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
C. S. Lewis

what second thoughts...?
Re: M28-30, refurb characteristics
Ditto on the second thoughts, looks like a nice M28/30. What are your concerns?
Re: M28-30, refurb characteristics
I’ve obviously been reading too many old internet posts where people get into the weeds on these. Thanks for reassuring me on my purchase. It looks so nice that I was getting that old “if it’s too good to be true ...” inclination.
But this is more than likely a refurb, correct?

@ Rurallife - I hear you brother. I just bought several guns from an estate and was looking at a Romanian M44 and thinking to myself, "OK, whats the deal? Is this a reproduction? It's too nice." I'm new to the game of the Mosin Nagant and am constantly second guessing myself. In the end, if you are happy with the rifle that's all that really counts. Looks like a beautiful rifle to me. I'm going to have to get me a few Finnish rifles now.

Yeah, I went straight for the jugular, the White Death M28/30 is supposed to be the one Mosin that takes the cake, in historical and limited numbers produced. Supposed to be accurate actually, lol.

Re: M28-30, refurb characteristics
Well, there might be a more limited version, I’ve barely scratched the surface on the Mosin research. This Finn model really intrigued me. I recently got a M39 that appears to have really gone through the wringer. This one looks great.
These Mosins appear to be really drying up, as far as beauty examples.

Re: M28-30, refurb characteristics
Getting a 28/30 now is a good thing, they are getting very pricey currently and won't be getting cheaper. As to your refurb question, yes the Finn's refurbished rifles post war the same way the Soviets did but on a smaller scale obviously. It's certainly possible it's been refurbished given it's condition as 28/30's saw heavy use during the Winter and Continuation War's. That's pretty common with most Finnish Mosin models and doesn't really effect value.
