It's not special, but this M38 is one of my favorite of my 2 dozen or so Mosin's. It's got rough milling on the receiver, is in an M44 stock, has a frosted barrel that's been counterbored, and some light rust in spots.
There's just something that always draws me to this rifle. It's always the first one I grab when I want to go out back and go shooting. Does anyone else have a rifle in their collections that they are particularly fond of like this?

My "favorites" change on a fairly regular basis. The first Mosin-Nagant that I bought is among my favorites, a run-of-the-mil hex receiver 91/30. Your first always holds your heart-stings. I haven't been doing hardly any shooting lately and it may have been a year or more since I shot a Mosin.

My first Mosin was also a hex 1932 Izhevsk. It's a great rifle, but the stock was refinished at some point. Whoever refinished it did a good job keeping the markings on the stock intact, but its got a extremely glossy finish now. There is just something I like about the M38 though.SA1911a1 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 5:29 am My "favorites" change on a fairly regular basis.
