Hi Andy,
Welcome to the forums!

It's a Mosin, as in Mosin Nagant.

The Triangle with a 12 in it is one of many unknown marks on a Mosin. Likely an inspectors mark as it was being built. There are a few that are know such as a triangle1 or triangle 2 which indicate use in the DDR (Germany).

Post some photos and we might find other items.

Hi Andy. There have been quite a few new members here lately with first Mosins. There should be some info you can share, like the date, receiver marks, bayonet or not. We need pictures too. Welcome to the forum.

There are many markings on M/Ns that are unknown, I'm thinking this is one of them. I've seen the triangle 12 on a few rifles before, but I've never seen it on a stock. That's pretty neat.

Yes, you see it from time to time on the shank, but I've never seen it on the stock.. Interesting!

Andy, There are likely many other identifiable marks on your gun, but the /12\ will not be one of them. Speculation on stamp identifications has lead to many internet rumors over time. So unfortunately, you may not even receive much speculation regarding the mark.

But, you do have one that appears to have the mark uniquely placed on the stock. Very nice.
No words of wisdom come to mind at this time....

Here is another "unknown" unsusal marking on the barrel shank of a '42 Tula 91/30.

I had to apply a little chalk to bring it out. If anyone knows what this means, let me know. :D

That's Kilroy, as in Kilroy was here. He traveled across Europe with our boys during WWII.

Man that is neat, also a 43 tula is a real find. One of the rarer years. Also the 42 tula. Maybe that is Ivanroy tho :vcool: :vcool:
