Bore's a little rough, but I've had others that looked like this come up rather shiny after a few range trips and cleanings.

Cleaning rod slightly bent, but still stows just fine. Small crack behind front escutcheon. Seems overall good for the age.

The Puolustuslaitos marking was an added surprise. Still reading up on that a bit.

My 2nd great experience with Simpsons LTD. I encourage you to check them out.

This is a Finn, right? With meters on the side of the rear sights and puolo on the shank?

Yes.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. Yes.
Was it common not to deface the Soviet hammer and sickle in the earlier Finn-acquired Mosins? My M39 has the Russian Imperial Eagle somewhat defaced and I thought all Finn Mosins were as well.

Its a mixed bag. I've seen both.

I have Finn used Mosins that don't seem to have had anything done to them at all, and nothing defaced.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.
