Found a 1943 Izhevsk with a "pool cue splice"

Post by kpangon »

Was at my local gun shop, and I noticed this 1943 Izhevsk had a spliced stock. It looks like this is the Soviet "pool cue splice." It also has 2 repairs, one under the bolt handle, and the other by the cleaning rod. I think these are interesting, because it shows the amount of work they were willing to do to make or repair one stock.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

That's cool. I'm not as experienced with Mosins as some but I've not seen that repair in picture three and four.

Well, when you have thousands of Armorers sitting around, and piles and piles of broken stocks........
