GM/ Inland Blue Sky carbine
I get this one yesterday, a little worried about the bore, it seems blue sky carbines reputation for bad bores is posted on some gun boards but there is no problem with this one. After the sight -in, 5 rounds at 50 yds, if not for the flyer, a junebug size group. That's with Aguilla ammo. Is that safety an add on ?

They aren't known for bad bores more so than any other milsurp, what they are known for is Hercules with his hammer striking that import mark so hard that the bore is crushed. This was not the case with Every Blue Sky import, just some of the earlier ones. I was collecting in the era of Blue Sky and am very familiar with that marking. Nice find.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I don't think its been fired much since it left blue sky . The sights were set on 300 yd, shooting 7 inches right at 50, would have been off the end of the range at 300. I think it will outshoot my Underwood.

The push button safety is the early safety. Later production M1 carbines had a lever type safety.

All US surplus was non corrosive, so was much of the Korean, maybe all of it. What killed these barrels wasn't rust, it was cleaning rods scraping in and out of the muzzle.steelbuttplate wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 4:15 am I don't think its been fired much since it left blue sky . Fulton Armory makes a muzzle protector that allows you to clean from the muzzle end. They also have my Inland M1 carbine-I got tired of trying to fix it myself. Their queue is currently six months out for repairs-I reserved my spot in January and my rifle is due to be inspected sometime next week.

We have that tool today, unfortunately it was not issued to generations of recruits who had to clean these carbines with the issue steel cleaning rods.awalker1829 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 2:22 pm Fulton Armory makes a muzzle protector that allows you to clean from the muzzle end. In the heat of battle, when the adrenaline is flowing, some GI's were hitting the magazine release instead of the safety.steelbuttplate wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 10:18 amThey went from good to worse . This could be bad for one's immediate survival.
I too have a 1943 Inland that was a Blue Sky import. I've never had a problem with it, and it feeds & fires every brand of ammo I have fired in it.
