M7 Bayonet....

Post by ffuries »

An eldery neighbor (Vietnam Vet) asked me how my AR build was going. Told him I'm waiting for the front swivel pin to ship (Since the early M16s used a roll pin versus a rivet for the sling swivel), along with the sight tool. Told him I had a bayonet in my cart and they sold out before I finalized my purchased, so I'll need to find another one. Then we just BSed in general.

Next day he knocks on the door, leaves a Wal Mart back on the porch and made an elderly version of a hastey retreat (LOL). I found this in the bag, called him and he says it's going to a good cause. He has refused to take any money for it. He hasn't a clue where the scabbard is......No big deal I have a M8A1 scabbard on order now.

It's a damn near new looking BOC or Bauer Ordnance Corp made M7 bayonet, meaning it's actually a Vietnam era made bayonet.

I have one someplace, I didn't realize they had become collectable and hard to find. Picked it up long ago at some flea market.

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

About a year ago everybody and their brother was selling new condition M-7s in M-10 (plastic) sheaths. I picked up one for me and one for my son. This one is an Ontario.

I've got a well used Imperial M7 on my other AR. Was going to be nice and put a bayonet on my sons M4.......But, Holy Shit Batman, the prices on M9 and OKC-3S bayonets are ridiculous, debating how nice I want to be!

I like the fact yours has unit markings on your scabbard. I remember when you posted it a couple years back.

The OKC-3s looks like a return of the Mk II from WWII.

I have the M6 bayonet still new in the wrap from some surplus place over 35 years ago. Forgot about that until this reminded me, I have it, but don't remember what box or can I hid it in. I used to grab bayonets when they were cheap, like ten or twenty bucks. Back then they were all cheap.
