USAF 604 Build.....

Post by ffuries »

Well I decided to get off my ass and start collecting the parts for my Faux/Retro USAF M16 604 build. Have a complete PSA lower inbound, found a slab side upper (it's inbound). Looking at BCGs, and barrels now.

Found the triangular handguards and the duck bill flash hider.

Just trying to decide on whether to go with a pencil barrel or a regular government profile barrel. As long as it looks the part, I'll be happy, besides by the time I came in, in Jan 86, all our rifles were mix-master mutts........

I wish......sadly no, it'll be a semi-auto lookalike. Plus a minor correction of my part, it'll have a 3 prong FH, not the duck bill....

Wow, I've got a ton of tracking numbers for parts coming in from all over.......Going to be like Christmas around here for a week or so....

Was offered an actual Colt (C MP B) made pencil barrel for my build, he's looking to see if he still has the FSB for it. It had the triangular handguard cap still with it. So by all appearances the upper will look like a proper USAF 604 M16. The lower will be a PSA lower for now, until the retro style lowers become available again, then I'll swap it out. Until then to the casual look it'll look like a old school M16.

Well so far everything has ran me a total of $685.00. The only thing I'm lacking partwise is the barrel and I'm being given that for free.....Thing that sucks is the parts are filtering in between now and next week. But we have company arriving tomorrow and will be here until the following weekend, so other than a quick inspection, CINC Household has asked (Told) me, no playing with my parts until our company is gone. I asked what parts does parts refer to when it comes to playing with my parts. She wasn't impressed or amused, she told me if I knew what was good for me, I'd just shut my mouth........

So for under $700.00 I'll have built a Faux USAF M16 604.

Here's an example of an actual USAF issued M16 604.
