Bayonet Collection
Bayonet Collection
For several years I've been collecting S84/98 III bayonets. I had the rifles I wanted and wanted to focus on another area collecting. Trying to find the different manufactures, certain dates, codes, etc. was all part of the fun of collecting these bayonets. Recently I sold off a lot that where in fair / poor condition and used the money to purchase some other stuff. I had these out last night and thought you guys might enjoy seeing them

Nice.

Re: Bayonet Collection
I have been selling some of my more common Mosin Rifles and spending the money on pistols and revolvers. I bought a pile of the rifles when they were cheap and now, with the prices soaring, I am cashing out the ones that are not special to me. I am at that magical age when a person could just up and croak, with no reason given, and I think it would be easier for my family to dispose of handguns than collectible rifles. No one in my family could tell the difference in a '42 Izhevsk 91/30 and and M-39 and they would stand a good chance of being rouged up selling. Being a tightwad of Scottish heritage I couldn't stand getting ripped off even while dead. ;)Tula44 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 6:23 pmWhat have you had your focus on lately? I am still retaining all of the nicer ones because I just can't stand to part with them.

Re: Bayonet Collection
I am not selling anything, but I am not buying much either. Someone tried to sell me a desert eagle in .50 AE the other day for two grand, that thing reminded me of the 1847 Colt Walker, another gun I don't much enjoy shooting. No thanks. All the money saved not constantly buying more guns means the cookie budget went up, no generic stuff here, now we have the good stuff fresh from the bakery

Very nice.
Re: Bayonet Collection
Looks like I'm not the only one who has been buying handguns lol. I'm still going to collect bayonets but I'm a lot more picky with what I'm looking for in an item. Condition is everything now. I was thankful that I was able to move off a large part of them though, especially with them being in not so good shape and some missing scabbards. What helped me also with getting the Glocks is the Blue Label discount on certain handguns. I really want to find more Mosins but with the current market it looks like I might have to wait and see what happens.SA1911a1 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 24, 2021 7:15 amI have been selling some of my more common Mosin Rifles and spending the money on pistols and revolvers. Re: Bayonet Collection
Desert Eagles look cool but I can't imagine the recoil on them. They're not my cup of tea either. I picked up a Glock 20 that's chambered in 10mm, that is a good bear gun.Junk Yard Dog wrote: ↑Sat Apr 24, 2021 8:13 am I am not selling anything, but I am not buying much either. Re: Bayonet Collection
I needed to get a photo of what was left of the collection after I sold some off so I had them all out in the living room. Glad the Mrs. didn't mind me taking the room over for a whileLongcolt44 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 24, 2021 7:05 pm I want to know how you get them to stay in line, mine are all over the place, two here, some in the bedroom, and a bunch in the gun room.

Re: Bayonet Collection
Good Gawd did I count correctly and there's 38 there? That would drive me insane as I would want a rifle to go with each bayonet.Tula44 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 4:47 pm For several years I've been collecting S84/98 III bayonets. My orphan bayonet pile is getting smaller as I find rifles for them. Down to 2 Turkish M1935 bayonets, 1 Turkish G1 bayonet, 1 Swiss M1889 bayonet missing the scabbard, and 1 6x2 AK47 bayonet.
These were part of a pile of free bayonets I was given some years ago, there was probably a total of 15 or more in the pile when I started. Two of them were/are missing the scabbards the Swiss M1889 and the 10 inch M1 Garand bayonet.

Re: Bayonet Collection
Lol, one was missing from the photo that I forgot about so 39 total. Trying to get a K98 for each bayonet would be pretty priceyffuries wrote: ↑Sat Apr 24, 2021 8:22 pmGood Gawd did I count correctly and there's 38 there?
