PU Sniper Going Rate?
PU Sniper Going Rate?
Evening gents. What have you all seen on a fair price nowadays for an authentic PU sniper in good condition? How much more would it be for a Finn capture?
Re: PU Sniper Going Rate?
Prices have been too dynamic for me to keep up with. I would guess a grand for a typical Tula sniper, and maybe a little more for the [SA] stamp, but that may not be accurate.

There's a gb auction on now for a finn capture currently at $1,000 so so far that seems within your assessment.

Re: PU Sniper Going Rate?
One fake sniper on GB going for $1,600
One for $3,699.99 that the mount seems questionable
I
didn't see the one with the SA marks on it, but, that would be one of the rarest PU snipers if it was really a Finn capture. There are maybe as many Finn captures as I have fingers on one hand.
Most are going from around $900 to $1,500 these days. I'm talking about standard refurbished Russian PU snipers.

Yep, thats what I meant, CAI put together, the other one might be legit, but i dont even bother looking at that sellers stuff with his past track record. There are 4 or 5 sellers on Gbroker that could be selling a legit sniper and I wont know because I ignore there listings.

LSB does sometimes have legit stuff, but they do not seem to always know what they are selling so with them never assume they know what they are selling.Willchef wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 9:10 amGotcha, so generally its best to avoid LSB's stuff?Miller Tyme wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 8:29 am Yep, thats what I meant, CAI put together, the other one might be legit, but i dont even bother looking at that sellers stuff with his past track record. For the other seller, he does know what he is selling, but he uses creative ways of describing things that lead buyers down the primrose path and should be avoided at all costs.
A few others to avoid on Gbroker are "and201", " OLD STEEL" ," Gunsrc"

Re: PU Sniper Going Rate?
Here is my take on the "SA" marked PU.
One,
The Finn's never made a PU sniper. They may have captured a few, but those examples are extremely rare.
Here is my problem with the one on GB.
The Russians always used barrel shanks with the "proof marks" moved up to the top or pushed all the way to the right side in some cases. They never had "proof marks" on the left side where the scope number went (on Izhevsk rifles).
As you can see, the "proof marks" are on the left side of this rifle.
. .
THAT, is a dead give away that the rifle was a standard M91/30 that has been "made into" a sniper.rifle.
Russians (even when pushed) always took a little care in their machining on PU snipers.
. .
Also, 1942 PU snipers are a fairly rare deal. But not impossible to find.
To me, this is a very questionable sniper rifle. Also, that SA mark is a little "fiiy" to me.

I really appreciate yours and Miller Tyme's feedback on the gb "finn capture pu" before I got too interested in it.Darryl wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 12:06 pm Here is my take on the "SA" marked PU.

Re: PU Sniper Going Rate?
Refurbished authentic Russian PU rifles in nice condition were about $1500 a year ago.

Darryl, the first thing that raised my eyebrows on this piece was the scope mount, was I barking up the wrong tree?Darryl wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 12:06 pm Here is my take on the "SA" marked PU.
