My SIL works for the city and they had a couple vaccines left over due to no-shows, and instead of throwing them away, they make calls. I got called by him (SIL) and told if you can get here in 10 minutes you can get it. So off I went, when I showed up 5 minutes later, the lady was wow you got here quick.

So now that I got the first one, I'm automatically scheduled for the second one. So I'll get my second one on the 24 of March. So now I don't have to wait for my age group and/or wait for my doctor to do paperwork to get me done early due to health issues.

Gila County, Arizona is now giving vaccination shots to anyone 18 years of age or older. Other counties are following the state model and holding the line at 65 years or older.

Well friday was the big day and I was both Impressed and Baffled at the whole situation. I arrived 45 minutes early for my appointment and was the only person in line. 4 members of the Indiana National Guard and one health dept employee at the registration desk and zero people to sign in at 1:45pm. As i was getting checked in I mentioned that my 87 year old mother in Ohio can't even get scheduled to get a shot and here I am and there is nobody here. A couple of the ING members suggested I bring her down and they would give her a shot, but the local Health Dept Official nixed that idea. 5 minutes latter I had the shot (there 6 ING members assigned to give shots) and after my 15 minute wait to see if I had a reaction I was on my way, and again nobody else was there getting shots.

But on the way out several members of the ING told me to ignore the Health Dept official and if I got my mom down by 8pm they would give her a shot. One quick phone call to my Mom to be ready I was 25 minutes out and she was finally going to get her shot. Mom was waiting at the door when I arrived and 25 minutes latter we where at Ivy Tech at the check in desk getting her registered. This time a more senior Health Dept Official tried to start a fuss and was effectively told by the Guardsmen to back off. So mom got registered , got her Pfizer shot and is quite happy to finally get it.

So a big shout out to The Indiana National Guard for doing the right thing despite the best efforts of local Health Dept bureaucrats, and the State of Ohio/Mike Dewine to **** it all up.

Oh and while I was there with mom only 3 people showed up for shots, which I find really baffling, where is everyone?

Well, I'm off to get my first shot of the Moderna vaccine in about an hour. I don't understand why there is only one place in the county to get vaccinated. I have to drive 30 miles to the county seat to get a shot. They made a big deal about Kroger Markets, Walgreens, and CVS getting the go-ahead to giving the shots but I tried to register and they all said they were all either full or not ready yet. There is a Kroger 1/2 mile from me and a Walgreens across the street from them. There is a CVS 2 miles from me also. There is supposed to be a shortage of the vaccine but now there are 3 different vaccines okayed by the CDC. Somebody someplace didn't plan this very well. I'll give a report on what's what when I get back.

I'm waiting waiting waiting to find out when I get mine. Last I hear it's still 65 and over and medical folks. Some hospitality types. In apartment maintenance I'm tripping over people all day long. lol My wife has had her shot. First one messed he up a little and the second was no problem.

Good luck.

You are right, the rollout is a hot mess. Apparently nobody thought about a sane way to distribute the vaccine until the company told them, "Hey! We have a gazillion doses, come get them." The chaotic handling of distribution has led to many cases of line-breaking and shady scheduling. Some places have more vaccine than they can use and others can't get half of what they need. The Army general who was put in charge of the process should be busted to private no class, and should be washing dishes in the mess hall for the rest of his career.

Oldest son works at a medical warehouse here in West Virginia double checking orders being shipped all over the east coast. He leaves this Sunday for Los Angeles Cal. to help over see the distribution of the vaccine and was told be ready to spend at least 18 months. Looks like this virus will be around a while yet.

From the minute I walked into the building these people organized in every way. After a ride in the elevator to the second floor when the doors opened there was someone almost taking you by the hand to get you in and out in a most helpful way. They sat you down according to your scheduled time and things were going so smooth I was out in almost a 1/2 hour before my time. The young lady that was monitoring the time told me they had 270 doses to give that day. The girl that called me to schedule my appointment said I would be getting the Moderna vaccine but when I got there I was told I would be getting the Pfizer vaccine. I really didn't care as long as I got the shot and knew to come back in 3 weeks for the second one.

I was watching news and they were interviewing a lady who was a business woman. She was so angry that Texas (where she was) was removing the "mask requirements". She went on and on how it was going to kill people and cause so much trouble. At the end the interview, the interviewer look at her and asked, What business are you in? She relied, "I import masks from china and distribute them to commercial warehouses here in Texas".

I turned it off. I though, that is the best they can get to interview? :chuckles:

Darryl

PS: I also heard that they gave a Covid-19 vaccination to two Gorillas. Now they were clear to say the vaccine was made by altering the human vaccine for them. But what I was wondering was, why if they can produce Gorilla Covid-19 vaccine, Why can't make human Covid-19 vaccine? Let the damn Gorillas wait till humans get theirs first. Not before people 65 and under!

I had my first Moderna shot a week ago. My arm began to ache only a couple minutes after injection. The ache went away after half an hour or so, but then came back later that day. It was bad enough that night to wake me up if I rolled over onto my arm in my sleep. It continued to ache through the following day. It felt like a bruise from getting punched. The ache subsided through the second day until it was gone.

Sort of like a Tetanus shot.

I'm 26 by the way.

The Pfizer shot is better from what I hear. There is also the Johnson & Johnson shot, I think.

My first one was somewhat painful, but it was because I got it while sitting in my car and the lady gave it to me too high up my shoulder where there isn't much meat. My second one was painless during and after.

I got my (Pfizer) second shot on Monday at 8 am. I had a bad headache and tired as Hell by 6:00. 11:00 to 1:00 am I had back chills. All day Tuesday in bed asleep with that damn headache.
Tuesday morning I went in for another endoscopy. That was hard dragging my butt into the place for that.
Today, I was just a little tired with a little nausea. But, getting better.
My Daughter went through the same thing as I did on her second shot. (in health care)
My wife is having second thoughts. She get her second shot on Monday.

Tell her to get it anyways. Better to deal with the devil you know than the devil you don’t know. The now dominant variants are not something to take lightly.

It confuses me when some of my coworkers refuse the vaccination. It's their right, but why? Future you has already paid for it, it won't give you a third arm or mutant telekinetic abilities, and the alternative is worse!
