Luckily you can still find 12 gauge at some stores at a reasonable price. I saw an online company selling a box of five 12 gauge slugs for $15. That's just crazy.steelbuttplate wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 5:46 am Remember 4 years ago, when there was only 12 ga. bird shot in the stores ? Re: Gun show.......
Here in California there is only one gun show this year in our area. March 6th
My wife said if I go there, I am quarantined in my gun room for 14 days!
Well, I don't know which is worse, the California legislature, or my wife!

Re: Gun show.......
That is not even close to the new crazy prices for slug, or buck, or even bird. I had a report from a friend doing the flea markets in central Florida this morning of triple that for birdshot, and much worse for rifle and pistol rounds. $75 for 20 rounds of 45/70, and someone bought it as soon as he put down the box and walked away. Despite the huge price markups people were buying, and not even trying to haggle. I had him giving me a play by play of the action live on the phone. 70 rounds of 7.62x39 for $140, fuck that guy, $55 for a hundred pack plastic case .22 LR, fuck that guy also, $65 for a box of 9mm missing five rounds, he can go fuck off also. He watched as all of this was being put out at the shows opening, and selling almost as fast. Never has there been a better time to be a gun and ammo hoarder. He bought a 12 gauge JC Higgins model 20 pump shotgun ( High Standard model 200) for $325 last weekend, this weekend the seller is trying to buy it back from him. The seller found out he could get twice that from the five other guys who were hovering around my friend while I screamed at him over the phone to fucking buy it now. Top end price for one of these in normal times, but it is a nice one, and now he is armed with a type of firearm he trained with when he received Navy shore patrol training. He didn't bother to get a gun before because he figured he would just use one of mine if the need arose, but now he is 1500 miles away. Things aren't getting better, they are getting much worse.Tula44 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 10:28 pmLuckily you can still find 12 gauge at some stores at a reasonable price. As long as people keep purchasing ammo set at these crazy prices sellers won't lower it.

Re: Gun show.......
There are people buying stray box's of ammo, and then going shopping for a firearm to use it in. This is what a panic looks like when people feel the wolf is at the door, the lock is broken, and all they have is their dick in their hands. It's amazing, I am still choking on my sandwich from being told that 7.62x39 price tag and seconds later he's telling me somebody is buying it. I have an entire plastic sleeve of Wolf 7.63x39 in the closet were I dropped it after a range day with an SKS five years ago. It's 500, or 1000 rounds, I could eat on that for a month or more if I sold it at that price, not that I am going to.

Re: Gun show.......
Told ya, our last gunshow the ammo prices were ridiculous.....Yet it was flying off the table quicker than the dealers could put it out. $50.00 plus for a box of 380 and 9mm and the customers are asking do you have more.Junk Yard Dog wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 7:03 pm There are people buying stray box's of ammo, and then going shopping for a firearm to use it in. We have another show this coming weekend and I guarantee you the prices will probably be even higher and they'll still buy it.

The flea markets he hits are not far from you. I told him not to bother with the gun shows and gun shops, he got very lucky with that shotgun, more so that it's not a piece of shit. Now I have him shopping for a .38, he want's an M9 because he trained with one, I told him to forget that right now, and he already knows about the 9mm ammo situation.ffuries wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 7:08 pmTold ya, our last gunshow the ammo prices were ridiculous.....Yet it was flying off the table quicker than the dealers could put it out. $50.00 plus for a box of 380 and 9mm and the customers are asking do you have more.Junk Yard Dog wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 7:03 pm There are people buying stray box's of ammo, and then going shopping for a firearm to use it in. I'm looking for a M9 also, well a M9 Commercial, would suffice. Because I carried one in the AF, also looking for a S&W M15......The list never gets shorter, when you find one item on your list you add 3 more!Junk Yard Dog wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 7:15 pmThe flea markets he hits are not far from you. Re: Gun show.......
You shoulda really got both of those a few years ago furies my S&W M&P15 was $600 out the door and came with 5 extra mags and 300 rounds of green tip at the time, and at that even I think there was a rebate from S&W on top of that. LGS still took almost a month to sell out of all the extra rifles they had. As for M9's not sure what the price was then but it was probably much better then todays. That being said the prices are probably gonna get even worse even somehow

I have one of the M9 commemoratives-first pistol I bought. I still have it but don't shoot it much anymore. Good gun, but than again, most anything made by Beretta is a good quality gun.

Re: Gun show.......
I have been telling him that since he retired from the service in 2007. It would have been harder up here in NY, but he's been living in Florida for almost three years now. Should be limited bullshit there, he is a bit cheap, and his military pension only goes so far. Now he has a maybe on a snub nose .38, Rossi I think.Lavitias wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 3:53 amYou shoulda really got both of those a few years ago furies my S&W M&P15 was $600 out the door and came with 5 extra mags and 300 rounds of green tip at the time, and at that even I think there was a rebate from S&W on top of that. Re: Gun show.......
Almost all of my guns in the collection have been bought locally and were the result of seizing on opportunities that presented themselves. I do know a local collector who has slowly been deaccessioning stuff-he's a good friend and gives me first refusal as well as prices that cover what he originally paid and perhaps a little profit.
Latest acquisition is a second M1892 M16 Berthier carbine. Traded an AR-15 and Glock 19X at the local gun shop for it and got some money on top of the trade. Win-win for me and the dealer. All the guys at the shop know me-I buy regularly from them. I got what I wanted and they got a couple of guns that will sell immediately. I need to get a second M1892 with the correct French bayonet lug to go with my Atlantic Wall M1892. It has a German bayonet lug and you can tell by looking at it that it was done by an armorer, not Bubba (perfect fit).

Re: Gun show.......
I went to a good size gun show in my area today.
There was lots of ammo, just not cheap. 22lr and 9x19 was practically falling off the tables. Most handgun ammo was about $0.70 per round, including 1000 round cans of reloaded stuff.
I didn't see any 7.62x25, 38r, or 54r. Some 39.
Lot of revolvers, lever actions, and old sporters.
Not a whole lot that interested me. I saw a few Luger P08's, Walther P38's, PP's, and Colt pocket pistols. One Springfield '03, one Arisaka. I didn't bother to look at the price tags because I didn't want to know. I'm not in the market for another gun anyhow unless it really jumps at me and none did.
I left with a set of grips and a magazine for a Chinese Type 54.

Re: Gun show.......
Several online companies now have 9x19, 7.62x39, and a few other popular calibers, it's all about twice what I paid for my ammo. Somebody is making some big bucks with people paying these crazy prices.
