Post by Drfeelgood »

Hello everyone im new to the forum and was wanting a opinion of a pu sniper on gunbroker. non import marked non marked mount but a 1944 Factory #297 NKV (Yoshkar-Ola) scope serial number seemed to check out not sure it is legit. hard to make up what this really is. any help would be nice

Here is why I would walk in this one.
The barrel shank says the rifle is a 1937 M91/30 rifle.
They didn't make a PU sniper till 1942 (?) I think it was. So, this rifle is incorrect (fake).

Second, That mount is very questionable

Third, I see nothing saying it was a "Yugo" PU sniper rifle.

I saw this one last week. The seller talked a good line, but I wasn't buying it.

right seems very iffy even for a yugo. wasnt seeing any yugo stock markings or anything. only thing i thought was interesting was the lack of import marks Pretty sure even the yugos would have something stamped on the mount. but I've been out of the mosin game a long time. very much a novice

I agree with Dolk, it's a reproduction that bubba further enhanced.

This is a good reason to have something checked out by someone who knows!
There are people on this forum who know what to look for. Just a few.

This is what happens when someone fakes a sniper and says:
"Well, it will never matter because I will own this for the rest of my life".
Then they sell it and it ends up being sold as a real PU sniper down the line.
And someone who doesn't ask gets taken. :angry4:

Good job of asking Drfeelgood!
