hi, I recently acquired a Mosin Nagant, I recently loved the Mosin, so I had to get one. Always wanted the sniper PU, but I kind of rushed when i saw one, i knew some basics of parts that i should look for, which passed. either ways, i have all matching numbers on my Mosin, even to the scope mount. hope to learn lots more on this forum!
How much did you pay?
You do know the serial numbers on a Mosin usually are "forced matched". So that means very little.
Big change you have taken. Well, when you get it, post it here and we will see if you got a "real deal" or not.
Remember, what is posted in most articles about authenticity is know by the Fakers also.
It is a small part of what we know and don't post the rest openly.
Good luck! You probably did OK.

Thank Darryl, Appreciate it. i did reach out to the seller, as he only aquired it himself through someone who passed away. so he has no knowledge or history about it. i posted some pictures if anyone can identify, pretty sure its a repo scope and possibly i know the stock might be not original,
but i do know:

Thanks Everyone.
Would love to see more photos of the scope itself.
Also the left side of the barrel shank (not the right side)
Under the bend of the bolt handle. And bolt in the action.
And most importantly, the import marks.
the mount is reproduction.
the finger grip slot is way too sharp an edge for my liking also.
Thanks Darryl, at least i know whats going on with the Mosin. attached are more pictures of what you requested. (bolt is loose due to firing pin broken - ordered a new one).
is the trigger assembly tula? i see a star in the front
also no import markings on the barrel (apparently some/most imported to canada has no import markings) - from what i found.
scope i found out was from westrifle (repro) - looks exactly the same. good to know the mount is also repro. but is the barrel, receiver and bolt actually from a PU? Thanks

When I can see the scope, bend of the bolt, and most important the import mark, then I can say what you have. I know Miller Tyme will chime in too when you get those photos.

He has 4 pics of the bolt. From my not expert perspective, it looks to be a welded on one.

I agree, the bolt looks way too polished and welded on. I believe it is a reproduction also.
But remember, the Russians "welded on" the original bolts also. Just a little differently.
Left barrel shank and import marks photos will give the final decision on reproduction or not.
Sorry about the delay in responding, this cold weather is running us ragged at work. I will have to pull this on my computer latter as i have some reservations on the rifle, but its hard to say for sure on a 2"×3" screen.

Now that I have seen it on my computer I am sure it is a reproduction PU. The bolt is all wrong, the mount looks like it is cast, possibly aluminum or pot metal, the inside of the receiver looks to have been painted, not something the arsenal would do, and the inspection marks on the L/H side of the barrel shank where the scope number would have been shouldn't be there on a sniper.
