Hey there! Nice to be here. Just bought my first Moron a few days ago (actually bought two) and needed a place of knowledge to get more educated of them.

Welcome to the board, you shouldn't buy Morons, all they do is eat on your dime, sit around watching you work, and bust up all your stuff. You have come to the right place, I have been dealing with Morons for years, the story's I have.......
couldn't resist

At the top of the page. click on the RMNF Knowledge Base button. If that doesn't have it then post a question on the main Mosin Nagant forum.

Hello members,
I stumbled across this site trying to find info on a rifle I purchased 15 years ago and knew nothing about. This is a great place for information and I want to thank all of those who contribute to it. I'm not a collector and may be completely wrong, but I believe I have a 1945 Izhevsk M38 in an M44 stock. It still had the packing grease in it when I got it and appears in good condition. My co-workers and I purchased several of these rifles in bulk from a local gun dealer. I'm hoping some of the experts can correctly identity the rifle and provide any other information they may have. It is really interesting reading about the history of these rifles and where they were made. I had some issues attaching photos because the files were too large, so I resized them and attached them. Hopefully they can be viewed.
Thank you

1945 m38, correct, laminated stock, post war refurbished by the USSR, 1945 is a hard to find year, lower production. I can't make out the M44 bayonet cutout on the stock, crap vision, but it's likely there. Welcome to the board, if you post this on the main Mosin board it will see more traffic, this thread is for first introductions, but no problem. Nice M38, always liked these, good news is it now is valued closer to what it should be, back in the day we paid under a hundred bucks for these

Thank you very much for the information. It does have the bayonet cutout. What is a fair price to sell this and can I post it for sale on this site? I would rather it go to someone who needs it for their collection than sit in my gun case. I have plenty of other hobbies the money can go to.

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
With the current insanity going on the selling price of these is all over the place, best to monitor sales on gunbroker.com to get an idea of current market value. we do ask new members to be around for a bit and have 10 or more posts up before listing things in the for sale forum, but otherwise so long as all Federal Firearms laws are observed it's no problem.Beeps905 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 3:54 pm Thank you very much for the information. Hi I am Wes1- New to the forum and love Nagants. Have several and all suffer from some type of issue, feed, trigger pull, invisible sights etc. Sure would like to find a gunsmith that specializes in fixing these issues. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanx Wes1

Put your issues in question form on the main Mosin forum and maybe one of our members can help.

hi, I recently acquired a Mosin Nagant, I recently loved the Mosin, so I had to get one. Always wanted the sniper PU, but I kind of rushed when i saw one, i knew some basics of parts that i should look for, which passed. either ways, i have all matching numbers on my Mosin, even to the scope mount. hope to learn lots more on this forum!

You do know the serial numbers on a Mosin usually are "forced matched". So that means very little.
Big change you have taken. Well, when you get it, post it here and we will see if you got a "real deal" or not.
Remember, what is posted in most articles about authenticity is know by the Fakers also.
It is a small part of what we know and don't post the rest openly.
Good luck! You probably did OK.

It's been many years, but I'm back to the forum.
Still loving the Mosins, especially the Finn modified Russian M91's. Am looking forward to some good reads.

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
I began collecting Milsurp items around 2012 and over the years my collection has shifted multiple times on which items I choose to focus on collecting. For the longest time I've enjoyed K98 rifles and bayonets but recently I got my hands on a M44 (Ok, three of them, you just can't have one
) and wanted to join this forum to learn more about Mosins. I look forward to being apart of this forum!
