Made in USSR Mosin Nagant Front Sight Tool

Post by tjtM38 »

I bought an original Mosin Nagant front sight tool on EBay. This one came from Ukraine; I just got it cleaned up. The numbers on the wooden box match the numbers on the tool with the exception of the year. The tool says "44r" but the box says 1945. I am guessing the box year could indicate delivery date. This looks like a really robust tool that should move even the most difficult front sights. I have to research the micrometer index on the tool to see how it was used by the arsenal. Any experience you want to share would be appreciated.

They are a nice piece of work for what is a fairly simple job, I picked up one for 91/30, and another for the M44 a few years back.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
