Fire....Ouch....Damn it!

Post by ffuries »

All the kids are in town for Thanksgiving, also celebrating two birthdays while everyone is here.

Dogs wanted out, so I took them out, figured I have a cigar while I was at it. The grill is on, so it'll be ready for the steaks. I look over at it and there are flames shooting out everywhere. So I kneel down to turn the gas off and the lid blows open, engulfing my upper half in a quick fireball. Startled by this I lose my footing and fall back slaming my head into the corner of the house.

Now I have singed eyebrows, eye lashes, nose hairs, mustache and hair, plus a nice goony egg on the back of my head. Then to make matters worse when I reeled back from the flames, I fucked up my back. I can barely stand up straight and can't get the smell of burnt hair out of my sinuses.

Thank goodness I just got a haircut and I'm sporting my regular high and tight, but all the ends are singed.

Going to my room to medicate, rotate and hibernate.

Yall be good and stay safe.............

I walked out one beautiful summer evening and my grill was blowing a 3 foot flame from near the regulator underneath. She didn't blow, but I have an electric grill now and charcoal of course. Most accidents happen within 10 miles of home. :facepalm1: I'm glad your didn't get fragged, but I bet you have a nice glow this evening, and someone's bringing you beers I bet.

Luckily I walked out when I did, I hate to think what would have happened otherwise.

Right now my head is thumping something serious. That and being on narcotics, I'm scared to death to have a beer or two.

The daughter, her husband and daughter went home (They live locally). One son is in his room, he just moved back to help mom with the repairs. The other son, his wife and two kids are chilling in their rooms right now. They packed some of their stuff up already, and are loading their SUV tonight. Then they'll head back to SC in the morning.

So the house is finally quiet, the dogs and I are chilling in the MBR, the wife is in the LR watching TV. That means the dogs and I will soon be out cold.......Nite yall!

You gotta be shitting me, all this just to enjoy a cigar? You and your neighbors have cameras on the house's right? You got the footage of that clusterfuck? Send it to me, I put it on my monetized youtube channel , if it goes viral we make a shitload of money. Think of the joy and laughter your pain and suffering can bring to people all across the world who are stuck hiding from Corvid with nothing better to do than watch youtube video's.

This is another reason why I have no natural gas or propane coming in the house, and I cook meat over Kingsford charcoal.

You know, I would have paid a hundred bucks to be standing there watching that shit go down. It's not nice I know, but I would have shit myself laughing after making sure you weren't dead, during Corvid you have to get your amusements were you can.

What kind of cigar, and I hope you didn't ruin it .

Most home accidents happen within the home, specifically the bathroom. All that tile, loose throw rugs, water splashed around, hard edges, plus all the heart attack toilet deaths. I know two people who died in the bathroom.

Honestly, it could have been much worse! Glad your OK... Mostly that is.

Wife cooked some greasy stuff on the gas grill & evidently didn't clean it after. she went out a week later & threw a bunch of 80/20 burgers on the grill & went back in the house. I was on the deck, heard a roaring noise, looked over & there was a five alarm fire under the lid!!!
Turned off the burners, Ran into the house, grabbed the big box of baking soda, lifted the top & sifted onto the flames. Fire went out & shut off the gas. Wife came out asking "What happened?" :facepalm1:

I've told her in the past you gotta clean the grill after use; And that involves the insides, drip pan, grates, burner covers... All of it!

I plan on scrapping the old gas grill & getting one of those flattop Blackstone grills. I wanna cook eggs, bacon & hashbrowns on the grill!

It was a Cohiba and luckily for me the new cams aren't hooked up out back yet......Or it would end up on the news knowing my smart-assed kids.

I'm paying for it today, I'm walking slow and hunched over......Going to hit the shower and a take a long, hot shower to loosen my back up, then stretch my back out afterwards.

Pretty much what happened here, burgers were grilled the other day, and apparently they didn't think to clean it, when they did the steaks.. Also my pet peeve, if the grill is on someone is out here rule, apparently was ignored.

You will love the Blackstone! They are excellent to cook on! Just treat it like a giant cast iron skillet. It would be quite a trick to get grease into the flames on one of these so they are quite safe also.

I've had some rowdy grease fires on the regular gas grill before also! Flames coming out of every hole in the metal cover. Luckily I could still reach and shut off the gas valve without burning myself.

Hope you get to feeling better really fast Mike.

My favorites are the ones who try and deep fry a turkey on the back porch, that being how the house caught fire.

Will they get hot enough to blacken a steak ? Like 3/4 high on a stove eye ?
