Got it where I want it now...

Post by qz2026 »

I'm a little bored so I thought I'd post one of my unmentionable and disgusting assault rifles, AKA guns of war by those in power now.. :facepalm1: :D

This gun has evolved since I first purchased it. But, it's finally where I want it. All except a black sling for it... Can't wait to get it to the range to sight in the scope and get the gas piston adjusted. These AK platform guns are totally over gassed. Heck my PSL shoots cases about 35 feet. A lot of guys will tell you that the Century C39v2 is junk. But, since I've had it, I totally disagree. Sweet gun and shoots dead on.

Century builds are like that box of chocolates Forrest Gump had, and what his mom said about them holds true for Century, you just never know what you are going to get. I have seen and heard horror story's, and then shot some that were perfectly normal, and gave no issues at all. What do you call the medical student who stumbles through school and just manages to scrape through graduation? Doctor, maybe yours, same holds true for gunsmith training courses, and like new minted Doctors ending up in the worst inner city ER on the night shift, new minted gunsmiths end up working for outfits like Century, or whoever puts their stuff together if it's not done in house. Entry level pay, low experience, emphasis put on speed of production, what you end up with is luck of the draw. That's if the builders are smiths at all and not just assemblers hired off the street and trained to do one task and pass it down to the next station.
It takes just stunning talent to fuck up an AK build, this makes it a great weapon for Century to produce. Looks good.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

You're not done. It needs a light, compass and brass catcher.

What are the best AK-47 variants on the market right now? I had a Zastava NPAP years ago that I sold-comb on the rear stock was too high. Any recommendations?

I am far from an AK expert.. There is lots online about these. And, I guess it all has to do with what you want one for. I'm a recreational shooter and not the type to shoot thousands of rounds. So, I wasn't willing to spend into the thousands for a high end AK. You just have to look around and watch lots of content. A good YouTube channel is Mishaco - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGrqD0 ... yCc6kgmTQQ and AK Operators Union, Local 47-74 https://www.youtube.com/user/AkOperatorsUnion

I'm more a collector, so my interest is more along the lines of examples that actually saw some sort of military service. I'll take a look at the links when I get off work-need to take a break from working on things.

Prices on the Ak's are crazy high now!
Personally i Like the milled variants AK's(Arsenals SA93,SA95,SA96, SAM series line etc), Chinese Ak's are also rated very high.
Currently KVAR import SAM7 side folders(milled receiver) which many people consider the Cadillac of Ak's

Zastava USA is the best bang for the buck right now. You really only have two options at this moment, Zastava & Arsenal for true eastern Euro manufactured AKM's, provided they don't get nix'd by our current admin.

I personally stay away from US built AKM's such as PSA, Century and the likes.

Or, if you're able to build original parts kit, I'd go with this.
