Happy Veterans Day to my fellow Veterans. I'm a little late with this today.

Memorial Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Halloween, Veterans Day, for about two days prior I'm hypervigilante. Maybe it's from being deployed over holidays so many times, and not being home, but before these holidays I seem to relive the days downrange for several nights, before I find peace, and sleep again. My wife also thinks it's because I missed so many, that I'm afraid to fall asleep for fear of missing them again.

May yall be safe, and enjoy the freedoms paid for by those who chose to serve their nation and her people, rather than serve their own needs. May we remember the price paid by those Veterans. Be safe, be good, and hug your families. A lot of military families have a member who's absent today because of military service.

Military personnel stand on the wall, around the world,, protecting us from those who wish harm to us. For them it's a regular day on the job.......

The sign we are holding in the one picture I still have it, it hung in my gunroom prior to the hurricane. There is my dusty boot print on the back of the sign, you would think after all these years it would be gone.

Back at you bro. I can't remember any pejoratives about fly boys, we spent most of our time dissing the Moron Corps, which on at least one occasion, in an EM club, when the beer had made me ten feet tall, bought me an azzwhoopin. ;)

Zoomies was the nicer one; the other is too close to a VN war term for SE Asians.

I married into a family full of squids, though my sister-in-law and her husband were Army like me. They met in Germany. my wife's other sister's husbands were both Navy vets, first one (now deceased) on a GuppyIII off the coast of VN, the other went to the sandbox a couple times. Wifes father, uncle, and one cousin, all Navy.

My Dad showed up to the draft board in his police uniform, they sent him home. He actually was going to enlist in the Air Force in 1962, wanted to be a helicopter mechanic. I'm glad he took the St. Paul PD up on their offer, or I might not be here.

I was in from Feb. 86-Dec '88 Basic and AIT at Jackson, duty station Ft. Ord-56th Med Bn, BCSB, 7th ID(L).

Always a day of deep sadness for me. Somehow, I've never been happy on this day.
