Hi....I worked for DeLaRue Giori at the American Banknote printing facility in Columbia Tenn. I was there twice for about 2-3 months each time in the mid to late nineties. Not sure they are still in operation now, they had moved there from Chicago...happy days!
Kindest regards,
Stuart

Columbia's a nice place-been there. Dad and I did some tracing on his side of the family as his family had come from Pulaski and Wartrace. We spent many summers vacationing in the area as we had a summer house on the lake between Winchester and Lynchburg.

I live just east of London in Essex & we often go to Bury St. Edmunds, it never seems to change much. Essex (a much maligned county) & Suffolk have some wonderful countryside & coastal areas. Dedham & Flatford Mill in Constable country are both still very nice too. It's not without it's problems of course but the "old country" is still a wonderful place to be & I wouldn't live anywhere else. A little known fact is that wherever you are in the U.K. you are no more than 70 odd miles from the sea, you could hide us in a corner of Texas, we would soon let them know we were there though!
I had the great fortune to work in Tennessee & Pennsylvania for a few months back in the late nineties, I was made to feel like I was family from day one.
Many happy memories.....I loved it!
Take care...
Kindest regards,
Stuart
Working in Tennessee, you got to see some of our finest country and some of the nicest people.

Now that I realize that you aren't from Kentucky, I will tell you I am a bit of an Anglophile. I have read a lot of WWII history written by some of your finest. I would love to visit, but I won't fly anymore, I hate ships, and I can't swim that far. It will have to wait for my next life.

Only been to the UK once, but I will go back someday. I am a railway and bus preservationist and have a great interest in historic ships, lighthouses and aircraft. Obviously I will need to plan a trip of a few months to take in as many preserved railways and other museums/historic sites as possible.

I was there in December of 1995 but didn't have much time to see anything as I was with a group of high school musicians who were there to participate in the Lord Mayor of London's New Years Day parade. They did have a few trips for us-went up to Canterbury, Windsor and Stratford-on-Avon. As an aviation enthusiast, I note that that trip was the last time I got to fly on a DC-10/MD-11 series aircraft-my part of the group flew out on a BA DC-10.

Hi again....hopefully BA & all the other airlines will still be in business, looking grim at the moment though with this pandemic having a catastrophic effect on the airline & travel industry....I'm sure it's there somewhere but it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel at the moment!
Take care.....

Hello Stuart,

Only just seen this post welcome from another Essex member, joined in 2011 back after a bit of a break last month.

Hope you picked up a nice Mosin rifle and shot it at Bisley.
