Gun show prices
Last year I found my favorite practice 9mm ammo for target shooting. Browning 115 gr 9mm in the yellow and black boxes. 150 rounds for 25.99. At the gun show today I saw a dealer with a table full of these same boxes for 125.00 ea. I understand we are in the middle of a zombie apocalypse but there is high markup and then there is flat out gouging. Well I exercised my right to keep on walking. I saw some crazy stuff to be sure.

Re: Gun show prices
They are asking that much because some people who didn't prepare years back are now willing to pay that and more for ammo. I know, I see it up here also, guns, ammo, all suddenly heavily in demand.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Hello,
That's just good old Supply and Demand at it's finest... my friend. Though, it sucks. The trick is, Not too have the need in demanding times, if possible. Be Prepared and thrifty with what's at hand in these times. Bad time to be a needy buyer...

Yeah for sure I'm glad I don't need anything. I ain't paying it in the first place. Reloading primers for 120-150 per thousand. No I don't think so.
Re: Gun show prices
Supply and Demand in this case is just gouging. It speaks to human nature, i.e., yet we'll just call it Supply and Demand... The only thing that I wish I had done was buy a box of hollow points.

Re: Gun show prices
I'm taking some 12 ga., some .38 Spec., and some 9mm to the show with me. $20 per box. I will get my table fee back in the first hour.

Profiteering, plain and simple. Everyone should note those that are doing it and make them pay when things return to normal. I make it a point not to do business with thieves.

Re: Gun show prices
I had ammo before all this shit, I am not selling it, and I don't need to buy any unless I find it cheap, and then it will just be to put into the stash for normal shooting.

That's how it is supposed to be... Good old Capitalism. If someone needs the ammo that bad they will pay. If the seller sells at regular price it will be gone in a second, and the next fella can sell it off for profit instead.
I know many people new to guns this year & they would pay that just to get something. Wouldn't surprise me if the seller would come down for a regular customer... Happens a lot. That high price keeps the Vultures away.

Re: Gun show prices
friend of mine bought me a thousand rounds of 9mm last year from an estate sale after failing to remember that I have nothing that uses that round. Another friend of mine was bitching earlier about the problems he is having finding 9mm. He's getting all thousand rounds for exactly what I paid for it, and I am happy just to see it gone. Same friend also bought me several box's of .40 s&w, another round I have zero use for, from some tag sale, I was lucky enough to unload that on someone I trust for the same deal, what I paid. A stranger wanting it would have paid double ( and it would still be under todays market) if I got a good vibe off them that they weren't shitbags. If the shitbag meter started to peg into the red they would only get wish ammo no matter how much offered.

Those cans of Norinco SKS yellow box, You think two cans of them (720 round each?) would be a good trade for a good '66 Chinese SKS rifle ?Junk Yard Dog wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 6:41 pm friend of mine bought me a thousand rounds of 9mm last year from an estate sale after failing to remember that I have nothing that uses that round. Re: Gun show prices
I once bought a Vietnam bringhome Chinese sks with papers for fifty bucks, later I got another ordinary import surplus Chinese SKS for free because the wood had dry rotted off it. Years later I found a stock for it and gifted it to a pistol shooter friend of mine who needed a rifle. I never cared for the Chinese ammo, especially the 7.62x39 Chinese ammo. That was the shit I was shooting when something sounded off and I found a perfect bullet with striations on it sitting on the ground a foot in front of the muzzle. I wasn't given to rocking and rolling with that rifle or there could have been a serious problem if the second round fired before the first bullet had cleared the barrel. I never bought Chinese ammo again, and it's been 30 years, I have no intention of ever buying anything Chinese again. Six months I am a prisoner on the property, their fucking virus is even now trying to kill a good friend of mine. The very friend who bought all that 9mm for me thinking I needed it, right now I would be perfectly happy to take both your ammo cans, strap them to Czar Bomba and drop it right on their little rat fuck commie heads. The shits can make a passable SKS, but their ammo sucks balls.steelbuttplate wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 5:03 pmThose cans of Norinco SKS yellow box, You think two cans of them (720 round each?) would be a good trade for a good '66 Chinese SKS rifle ?Junk Yard Dog wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 6:41 pm friend of mine bought me a thousand rounds of 9mm last year from an estate sale after failing to remember that I have nothing that uses that round. Re: Gun show prices
That shit happens. When I first got the K-38, I shot some Rem. .38 hp in it, less than 5 yrs. old, and one round went Pooof out the cylinder gap, and stuck one in the barrel. I had a brass rod in the truck and drove it out. Round lead in that pistol ever since. I had a case of yellow box, shot over half of it, the rest went with the paratrooper when I sold it. It is steel core but not AP. I don't remember any duds.

Re: Gun show prices
I remember how some of the Albanian 7.62x54r looked like a child was in change of production. primer sealer that was as if a blind man applied it, stuff like that, yet I trust that ammo more than anything Chinese. Chinese commie ammo was the cheapest shit you could buy before the Bush bans on Chinese AK, and other weapons imports. There were other issues with that ammo back then, but that one incident was the last straw. Now of course I have so many more reasons not to give those fucks my money.

Re: Gun show prices
I'll click the notification links and wait until a retailer has them in stock. I've gotten a couple of good sources for bullets and am buying in 1,000 piece lots when possible. I've tried lacquer sealing primers and bullets on a few of my reloads just to try it out-works fine on my standard rifles but makes the primer a bit too hard for my M1 carbine. I've got several thousand large rifle standard primers, a fair amount of powder and plenty of time on my hands. I also temper my ammo use for my 9mm pistols by loading the mags at home and only shooting as much ammo as the mags will hold.
Re: Gun show prices
THAT"S NUTS!!!!!!. I am rearranging stuff I moved out my daughter's house and found 20K primers, 10K small pistol, 20K large pistol. At those prices, I will sell and deliver in a 5 state area.
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!
