FN Browning M-1922
FN Browning M-1922
Picked it up today, even swap for a $250.00 revolver. The magazine is crap, so I ordered a new magazine and a Wolff service pack. Taking it apart you can see that it is Mr. Browning's work. I have been trying to figure out when it was made, but the only clue I have are the wooden grip panels. They appear to have been a WWII thing.

Nice, I've always liked the sleek look of those. The barrel extension is a military contract add on , another clue, to get the barrel to the specified length. I can't remember The Who or when that was done for. The History Dawg knows.
P.S. the slide extension, longer barrel and longer grip(2 more rounds) was done for the Yugoslavian army initially, changing it from the 1910 to the 1922. It became popular with many countries, especially Germany and were produced during wartime for Germany in occupied Belgium. Yours must be pre-war.

Here is a history note for you. This is the pistol that the young Bosnian Serb, Gavrilo Princip used to kill Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and his wife, Sophie on June 28, 1914 that started WWI.

That would have been a 1910 wouldn't it? Essentially the same, though.Longcolt44 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 9:31 am Here is a history note for you. It is marked 7MM65 (7.65 MM) which is .32 ACP. They made them in the two calibers.Longcolt44 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 8:05 pm Nice, dolk and I have them but with Serbian crests. I'd like a plain one like yours. Is yours marked 9mm kurz, in English thats 380.

Re: FN Browning M-1922
You are thinking about a model 1910. Essentially the same gun, but smaller; shorter barrel, smaller magazine and grip. The 1910 was a popular gun, but the military wanted a version of it with more mag capacity and a longer barrel, but they wanted it on the cheap. So FN replaced the barrel bushing with the "sleeve" that you can see at the muzzle, lengthened the barrel and added a bit to the grip. No major engineering, or retooling needed.Longcolt44 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 9:31 am Here is a history note for you. That is a really nice handgun, good find and a good trade.
I have entire bag full of parts for a FN 1922 including a Serbian marked slide, springs, all sorts of parts for one of these.

Re: FN Browning M-1922
I got the new magazine in the mail yesterday and it did the trick. The piece functioned flawlessly with ball ammo. I am still going to replace all of the springs when they come. The spring replacement will give me a good excuse to detail clean the piece. I really like the way this shoots, Mr. Browning didn't make any junk!
I was able to find some .32 ammo online for a reasonable price, and it has actually shipped! $17.00/box of 50 shipped. It sure beat the $32.00/box I found on my walkabout.

I found some more .32 ACP yesterday so I took this pistol out to the range this morning. With the new springs, new magazines and new ammo I had a ball. This is actually one of the sweetest shooters I own, it is an absolute pleasure to plink with.

Re: FN Browning M-1922
Very nice pistol.
I have a FN1910/22 in my collection, Its in .380acp or 9mm short dated to around 1938/39 with a Danish crest on top of the slide, serial No is 566** so that may give you a clue to date yours, & yes I'm in England and it's live to use. We can have hand guns if they are classed as Historical items known as section 7.3 this pistol is and has history. Also have a FN1900 & 1910 both in .32acp.

I would really enjoy finding a 1910, but when they come up they are very "spendy." I have gathered in several .32 ACP pistols over the past year or so, and I have gained new respect for the caliber.
