That shipping thing is a valid point. Having never used them i did not know that. Why is it that everybody else can tell you and they can't? Sounds nefarious to me. :paranoid: :grumpy:

They state during the checkout that they only quote shipping upon packing the deal and weighing it to afford the user a better price. This is from their check out "Shipping will be added to the order when your order is packed and the UPS rate can be deteremined." Cut and pasted for your viewing pleasure.

Well i would have a no thank you to that also. That is just plain crapola. They can throw anything they want to in the box and way it and then take it out for shipping to gain some bucks. Still sounds like a back alley deal to me. We all know what they wiegh approximately and so do they. I think they have lost a customer who was not one in the first place. AS far as ups goes i think they have it in a group, like from 10 -20 pounds (not sure of the real numbers) and not a fee for every little ounce. (again not sure but). Still sounds like a ripoff is about to happen. They lost my business for the same reasons you have and also the car sales attitude they show. :x :x

UPS does use a set per pound rate up to 66lbs. Then a new shipping base is calculated. It's like this. I know Sam at SGAmmo uses UPS and for a single box of say 20rds of any ammo it's $12. If you buy 200 rds of the same ammo it's $12. It's a base rate up to a certain weight. Then it progressively goes up from there. Once you're at 66lbs they generate a new base shipping rate. They also don't want packages to weigh more than 66lbs. So that's something to keep in mind when ordering ammo. Because of it's weight it's heavy by nature and the shipping goes up quickly.

My thinking is if other sites and I mean most other sites can do it why can't they? I like the used car salesman reference. How fitting, lol.

Thank you for the info. I still would rather pay the set figure then to not know what they are going to charge. It is never a good thing to have a surprise credit card charge. :D
I was basing the charges on known orders from J&G. If i go to their check out i can place ammo in the cart and see the shipping changes. In other words if you buy just one box it is a certain price and then i put more into the cart till it changes the shipping. At least then i know exactly what the price is going to be and how much i can afford. Just a better way of doing business i would say. :D

One other thing to add is UPS and FedEx have a feature that allows vendors to link their shipping calculator directly to the shippers calculator so they aren't even really quoting you a price. The shipping is based on the weight the vendor inputs for each product.
