Oops Not Dead......?

Post by ffuries »

Local man declared dead, mortuary services show up later to pick up the remains and he still has a heartbeat.......WTF!

Story doesn't go into details, but the social media story does and says the funeral home showed up 7 hours after he was declared dead. All life saving IVs etc, were disconnected after he was declared dead, they have now hooked IVs etc back up. Family is fighting to have him transferred to another facility.

I bet that ambulance chasing lawyers are beating down the families doors to sue the attending physician and the facility. Hopefully the man recovers and has the death certificate framed in his new mansion on the beach.

Not the first time I’ve heard this happening. You know the saying saved by the bell. It comes from putting a rope inside the casket the other side to above ground bell. They were having this problem a long time ago as well.

Vampire legends likely got started when people woke up in crypts, and then were likely burned at the stake because the " dead" aren't supposed to come back to life unless they are Jesus. Many a poor bastard has woken up in a coffin buried in the ground, only the well to do could afford the bell and paid monitor standing by the grave. Scratched coffin lids ( on the inside) have been found when cemetery's have been moved. Even now in the 21st century in first world countries I have heard more than one tale of someone waking up on a slab in the morgue, or funeral home, probably making some poor unsuspecting attendant shit themselves. The ones that wake up in the grave we do not hear about, but it's probably happened. If you hear screaming coming from inside a recently sealed above ground mausoleum crypt it's not a zombie, stop recording it on the cell phone and let the poor fuck out.

Oh yea, I have seen that lady before answering questions about the funeral industry. Lack of space in the city caused the invention of the year and a day crypts. How long the New Orleans heat will take to reduce a body from juicy to bones. Then the bones get pushed to the back when some new occupant needs the oven.

That or they make nice ornaments of the bones like at Sedlic Ossuary. London had a special railway (the London Necropolis Railway) that served Brookwood Cemetery for many years. Trains were operated from London to Necropolis Junction by the London and Southwestern Railway. As the line into the cemetery was a single end siding, the locomotive would remain at Necropolis Junction and horses pulled the cars to either the Nonconformist Station or the Anglican Station. Both stations had First Class and ordinary reception rooms and staffed, licensed refreshment rooms (restaurants). Obviously, many trips booked on the railway were one way only.

Caitlyn Doughty has a couple of good books out. Crypts were popular there because of the high water table. When in ground burials were done, they often drilled holes in the coffin to permit it to flood and often put heavy stones on top of it. The sealed caskets of today trap gasses in them, aiding their tendencies to float in floods (that and the fact that many graves are much shallower than the traditional six feet). In some states, the minimum depth of a grave may be as little as two feet of soil above the casket.

Here's a good You Tube site that discusses all things mortuary and death, for them what get into this subject-

My daughter owns a house in New Orleans a few blocks from one of those cemeteries. We drove by them when we visited her. I found the places fascinating. Recycling graves makes sense. Some of the finest real estate in the world is full the dust of long gone and forgotten bodies. After a hundred years, they need to reuse the space. I won't be occupying much space, I will be reduced to ashes and spread under a tree that has been pointed out to my family. I mean, after all, dead is dead.....(except in PC)
