I don't think so. There is an online group you can join that qualifies, but I forget what it is.
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

NRA maybe? I never bought from the CMP back in the day when I was hoarding M1's so it never came up.

Garand Collector's Association counts, but you have to be a dues paying member of the group. NRA does not count. Basically, you must be a member of an affiliated club or association and be active in the shooting sports. Depending on the type of affiliate, you may have to produce evidence of participation in the shooting sports.

You can kill two birds by joining a shooting club that is an affiliate.. I counts as a member of an affiliate club and counts as the shooting requirement too. Most affiliate clubs require you be an NRA member also, not a part of the CMP requirements though.

Being military or prior military also counts towards the requirements. Here's the CMP requirements for purchases.

I'm a member of our small county gun range near me. Little paper work through them worked for me. Not that hard to work your way into the right position to get into the CMP.

Membership to this forum does not count for the CMP. Also as stated above NRA membership does not count either.

I'm a member of the Garand Collectors Association which qualifies for CMP orders. Their quarterly magazine is excellent and well worth the membership cost. You can pay online and they will share your membership information with the CMP which makes ordering nice and easy.

That's what I do too. Before I had my C&R license I used my concealed carry license as marksmanship proof.

I'm a member of an affiliated shooting club, got my C&R and my concealed weapons permit, so there's no issue for me-they just don't have anything I want badly enough.

I have my C&R also, but they don’t accept that to ship to. They only ship to FFL-01

You need to be a member of a shooting club. They have a list of local clubs that are probably in your area that might qualify you.
Or the Garand club is like $25.

That's why I am a member of an affiliated shooting club. They just don't have anything I want. I have shot a few competitions, but the COVID has things on hold now.

The CMP does not only ship to FFL 01. When you do all their paper work they will ship your Garand to your door FFL or not. When I bought mine March 19, 2019 UPS left it leaning on my front door. Their requirements for their .45's are a different story.

I should’ve clarified, it depends on the state you live in. I just got a Garand from the CMP this month. When I submitted my paperwork in March it required an FFL ship to address as well as a copy of the Ffl’s license. I got my FFL-03 in May and I eMailed to see if I could now have it shipped to me and they wrote back to FFL-01 only.

“ We can only ship to a 01 FFL dealer in New York, so we will not be able to ship to you using your C&R license.”
