Insult on top of injury
Insult on top of injury
Stuck at home in the hottest corona state in the union, someone cut the underground phone cables on Tuesday evening. It took until 15 minutes ago to repair the damage. The only way it should take three days to splice a phone cable is if the repair tech is color blind..... DSL is the best we can get out here, and it was gone, and with it entertainment. I guess next week we will get a cross-fire hurricane, right after the forest fire......

Time to make a crossbow, or another boat. A bud of mine made a horse drawn chuck wagon, a damn nice one.SA1911a1 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 3:17 pm Stuck at home in the hottest corona state in the union, someone cut the underground phone cables on Tuesday evening. Wow. Our economy is pretty much slowing down here without any official declaration from the governor. Folks are voting with their feet and staying away from stores and crowds. Teachers are demanding that the state department of education actually come up with a workable plan for reopening schools or distance learning.

If I were a teacher in a hot-spot that was ordered to go into a classroom with 30 nasty children every day, I would be looking for a new line of work, cause the school board and the governor could kiss my hairy ass.awalker1829 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 4:19 pm Wow. I would rather be on fire watch in Antarctica than face 30 disease carrying rug rats every day. Or more likely hundreds of them given that teachers have multiple classrooms full of different students daily.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I can see Steve's wife spending 3 days making shadow puppets on the wall to keep him from going insane.
My wife's a teacher retirement age and my son is starting collage this fall so it's a mess around here right now. I find out things related through other people, I can't mention school at home or I die.

A lot of the teachers who are eligible for retirement but were holding off have been doing just that.SA1911a1 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 7:21 pmIf I were a teacher in a hot-spot that was ordered to go into a classroom with 30 nasty children every day, I would be looking for a new line of work, cause the school board and the governor could kiss my hairy ass.awalker1829 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 4:19 pm Wow. I wouldn't even do that if the pandemic was over. Kids today have no fear or respect of teachers. With the lack of discipline they have there is no reason to act like anything but a smart ass bunch funcher at school.Junk Yard Dog wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 2:01 am I would rather be on fire watch in Antarctica than face 30 disease carrying rug rats every day. You'd love the annual Rodeo Parade here in Tucson. Rodeo is every February and kicks off with the largest non-motorized parade in the country. Nothing but wagons and horses.steelbuttplate wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 4:12 pmTime to make a crossbow, or another boat. Tell me I'm getting cabin fever Steve. It's been so long since I've really been out, that I spent 30 minutes the other day trying to figure out where my damn shoes were.
I'm so ready for this shit to be over.
To make things worse we've been self quarantining. One of the many elderly neighbors we check on and the wife drops off home cooked meals for, tested positive for the COVID-19. She got it from one of the Caregivers the rehab center sends over. As if that wasn't bad enough her son who lives about 30 minutes away also did. So he's been staying with his mom, taking care of her, while battling his own case of it.
It's been 12 days (12 July) since we started our quarantine, so far an we have no symptoms, so hopefully we dodged a bullet here. Regardless I don't leave house unless I have an appointment, and I always wear my mask when at the doctors. This had been my routine since this stuff started.
I know my dad is upstairs looking down laughing his ass off at me right now. As a kid I spent more time grounded to the house, between the 6th and 12th grade than I spent outside. All that was practice for this apparently. Thanks dad!
