1887 date Martini-Henry .455/.577 cal

Post by racerguy00 »

Thanks to a friend I was able to score one of the Martinis from the Nepal hoard that found it's way into his shop. Very good price too.

All British with a few Nepalese markings and a 1909 Rawalpindi arsenal stamp, now located in Pakistan. Functions great, bore looks ok but full of grease so we'll see after cleanup. Stock is solid with no cracks or rot, this is one solid feeling rifle in the hand that's for sure. Time to start working on some ammo after yak-fat removal. :D

Cool.
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

That is astonishingly clean for a Nepal hoard rifle of any kind.  :vcool:
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Wow sweet looking, most of what ends up around here lately are Bubba Specials and an occasional gem.
