OK, so here are a few indoor pictures, no flash. Will go outside and get pictures of the whole rifle.

I didn't see a reason to start a new thread so here's my M39 I received yesterday from SOG. I selected hand pick and requested matching but that didn't happen. Does the 1894 date on the tang make this rifle an antique? I'm happy with the overall condition of the rifle. I was upset about the mismatched bolt at first but I'm getting over it. The barrel is in like new condition.

The bad: These marks looked a lot better after I hit them with some Murphy's Oil Soap

Whoa. That is nice! Yes the 1894 does make it a antique. The bolt might not match, but I bet the bolt is perfectly fitted to the gun. That is the way the Finns did things. That gun has hand select written all over it. Beautiful post WWII stock, as identified by the square notches in the finger joints if the 2 piece stock. Expect this bad boy to shoot better than you can, so a range report is a must have. Congratulations, and I don't recognize your name, are you new? Welcome aboard!

I admit I'm not the best shot but in my defense I'm still getting use to the Finn and I was shooting more for load testing and trying out my new chrony. :vcool: The ammo is Prvi brass, CCI L.R. primers, IMR 3031 , Speer 2217 150gr. OAL 2.950 49.4gr. (center and 1st shot very low flyer walking her on got a decent 3 shot group), 42.2gr.(right), 43.9gr.(left) all shot at 25 yds

40.4: 2549 FPS avg.
42.2: 2653 "
43.9: 2739 "

Thank you for all of the positive comments. I look forward to contributing to the forum.

@ The End...

That's funny you mention the wife. Mine asked me yesterday as she was coming home from the mall, "Is that a new rifle?" "Umm, well yeh I got it on a trade" while I'm thinking in my head, "A future trade that I am planning at the moment."

I wasn't expecting the question because I figured she thought all of my surplus rifles looked the same. Along with the fact that I was distracted by my reloading.

I see you're from Ohio. Why not drive up to Southern Ohio Gun and see if they'll let you pick one out.

Nice M39, and great shooting :)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

I might just do that but I may need to let the heat die down first, you see I've already bought three guns this month, the two Tula hex's that I posted and a Ruger sp 101. It didn't help relations with my wife when see found out that I bought all three on the same day! I'll be heading to Bill Goodman's gun show at Hara tomorrow and I will keep my eyes open, so who knows? -Don
