Berretta 92fs

Post by Sonny »

Woohoo my new pistol arrived today. A Beretta 92fs.

Just have to wait for the paperwork from the government to make me a legal beagle and then I have to wait for our range to open up again

I sold my Beretta 92s Italian surplus but this one looks a thousand times better. 8-)

Would love to hear from anyone who has one of these and what your thoughts are on this model.

I don't have the "S" model, but I do have the FS model, it is a great pistol.

I owned a 92FS that I sold to a friend about 15 years ago. I have since regretted getting rid of it. It was a Desert Storm Commemorative and probably is worth a lot of money now. I qualified yearly on the Beretta M9 in the Air Force and always shot expert with it. Having said all of that, I prefer other striker-fired pistols to the 92FS. Specifically, I like the ergonomics of my Walther P99 and the simplicity and reliability of the Glock 19.

The Beretta was always a bit large for my hands and I was never comfortable with the long double-action pull. However, the pistol was absolutely flawless in function and I never had to worry about what type of ammo I put in it. Obviously, it shot well with the NATO 124 grain ball ammo, but it would shoot the lighter and heavier hollow point bullets equally well. The pistol was accurate and the slide to frame lock up was solid. I think you will enjoy shooting it. I am not sure our military should have gotten rid of it. Yours is in really nice shape.

I used several different handguns when shooting IDPA events but once I picked this weapon up there was no turning back. Most accurate handgun I've ever shot. I told the boys at work it's the closest thing to shooting a rifle in a handgun I've ever used. You'll be very pleased with you new weapon. Can't wait to hear the results.

I need to get one. I need it to fill the void in the weapons I carried in the military. Still have the green canvas holster they issued us in Desert Storm, plus I have my leg holster from Afghanistan. Hell the leg holster is still covered in dust from my last deployment in 2002.

Sweet looking gun there, call me jealous.

I have a 92S, then I bought a 92FS and at the end of 2019 I bought a 92FS Brigadier. They are all great guns. Along with them I also have PX4 Storm. They are somewhat addictive. :D

Congratulations Sonny. I assume you have magazine capacity restrictions on the Beretta?

I traded a plain Jane AR-15 a year or so ago straight up for a NIB 92FS with five magazines. I'll reiterate what everyone else has said. Reliable, accurate and smooth. I'm damn sure I made that trade.

Yes sir our pistol mags have to be pinned to 10 rounds. The good news is that it came with two mags plus my Chiappa M-1 9mm takes the same Beretta 92FS mags so in total I have four mags.

Thanks everyone for the info. I think I'm going to like this Beretta.

I have one of the commercial M9s that Beretta produced with the military markings. That was my EDC until I got the SIG P320. I actually like the open slide and the feel of it. Only thing I don’t like is all the pins used in the slide.

I Have one and only had one complaint, I didn't like the original rear static sight. I bought a fully adjustable rear sight from Beretta and it solved my problem. The Pachmayrs make it nice to hold too.

I have a 92, and two beretta shotguns and all I can say is that you never regret buying a beretta. The 92 feels heavy compare to the plastic guns, but they feel and fire right, they don't let you down. Their shotguns are great too. The 92 was really my first beretta, and I would have never looked at their shotgun if I didn't like the 92 so much. The 92 never let me down, so I actually coughed up the money for my first semi auto shotgun and fell in love with it
