There may also be less interest in the 91/59s due to lack of information about why/when they were made.
This is part of the mystique that drives many of us to appreciate these guns. There is plenty of information out there but not much in the way of answering the 5 w's. But, after a while you connect a lot of subjective dots and make some sense of them. The interest to me is that they can be found with shank/receiver dates of anywhere between 1920 and 1944. I like the battle worn rifles and the carbines that came out of the Cugir "refurbishments".

Hello folks,
Here is an imgur album of this rifle. I am not too sure what the tang says, maybe a number '3'?

Nice examples of the latter in the 250 to 275 range have been common lately. I havent noticed an average 91/59 sell for over 375 lately. I thought this hex one would go higher though.
Agreed. I've been shrinking my collection & some of the wind is out of the sails (or Sales) on many of the Mosin Nagant rifles. I just parted with one of my 91/59's, Sanitized like that but round receiver for less than the Hex you show here. No... I think this Hex one that sold is right around the ballpark in todays market.
