I finished my build with the completion of the upper receiver. The upper parts are:

Odin Works mid length 16.1" stainless barrel in .223 Wylde with stainless tunable gas block
Midwest Industries 12" SLH Mlok handguard (free float)
Anderson upper receiver with Aero Precision forward assist and ejection port cover
AIM Surplus premium nickel-boron bolt carrier group
Strike Industries Extended Latch charge handle
Spike's Tactical Extreme Dyna Comp compensator

The hardest part of the build was installing the damn little roll pin in the gas block and gas tube. I spent a lot of money on this. Hope it works.

A lot of the manufacturers are chamfering the edge of the gas block hole for the roll pin, I've always done it with a few twists of a drill bit, just enough to let you get a good start on the roll pin. I also never use the roll pin that comes with them, they tend to be a tiny bit short, I bought a bunch of 5/16" long ones that will go completely from side to side.
Now to go shoot it! I really like my .223 Wylde 1:8 stainless barrel, and the NiB BCG just wipes clean, Just don't use Hoppes on it as it will go after the nickle and dull it after a few cleanings, I only use CLP on mine.

Thanks for the info. I test-fired it without an optic. Shot 20 rounds with no malfunctions. On your recommendation, I bought some of those 5/16" long gas tube pins for future use. Now I am good to shop for an optic. Think a rifle like this needs a good one, so I am not going cheap.

I chose the Vortex Spitfire 3X Prism scope as an optic for this build. Mounting and bore-sight complete. Looks great on this rifle.

Isn't building your own fun? I have two built on Anderson lowers, one is an M16A2 clone with triangle hand guards and the other is an M4 Carbine build. I also have two more stripped lowers I got just because they were on sale and I was already buying some other things that needed to be transfered so I got these just to have for later. They're also Anderson's but they're the no logo version and they just happened to be sequentially numbered. I have another 20 inch A2 upper for one and a 7.62x39 carbine upper for the other one.

Yeah, it's fun building your own. Never thought I would own an AR-15, now I have four of them including an 1978-vintage Colt HBAR with 20" barrel, A Colt M4 carbine, a PSA AR15A4 with A2 butt stock and 20" barrel, and now this rifle. I enjoy shooting them all. I took this new build out yesterday and sighted it in. Think it is gonna be a sweet keeper.

With the addition on the Magpul MS1 sling with forward MLOK Paraclip attachment, the rifle is now complete. It's been fun building it, sighting it in and shooting it.

It might be complete, but it is actually "done"? I keep running across "goodies" and swapping parts out to try new things like an ambidextrous safety, extended takedown pins, fire control springs, etc, lol.
