Romanian Tok

Post by Sonny »

Lookee what arrived in the mail today. :D

A Romanian Tokarev. It came in a plastic bag soaked in oil but a good cleaning took care of that. All numbers are matching except for the mag. It's in pretty good condition considering it's a used surplus pistol. Just a little holster wear around the muzzle.

The only markings on it besides the serial and year numbers is a BZ on the left side of the frame and on top of the slide. Is this normal for Romanians? I was expecting a crest or something like the Yugo's have but nope, no crests on this one.

This is my 4th Tok after my Russian, Chinese and Yugo... I'm keeping my eye out for a Polish Tok just to add to my collection but I have a question.

Who else makes these Toks? I know North Korea makes them but fat chance of getting my hands on one of those.

Anyway have a look. 8-)

Nice, You could just write the little fat rocket man and ask him to send you one. He might even invite you to DPRK to get one in person. I forget all the commie countries who made these, probably all of them.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Yup. This.

I like my Romanian. It was a whole lot cheaper than a Russian one and seems just as good. The Romanian ones are usually very nice. Neat that yours is a 1955. Most of them are 1953.
I'm just here for the free coffee mug and tee shirt. :vcool:

Being in Canada, you have a better chance at getting any Com Bloc pistols that come available. Our import laws suck when it comes to these.

Congratulations on adding to your Tokarev collection!

I've had a couple of TT-C's and still have one that is 1956 vintage that I picked up from Aim Surplus in 2016 that's real nice. I traded a 1953 TT-C plus a little boot for a Charles Daly 1911 a couple of years ago.

Took the Romanian to the range today and this is by far the most accurate one as far as tight groups go BUT there's troubles in River city. :b sad:

I can only get 1 or 2 shots off and then the slide locks open even when there are still rounds in the mag. Stripped it down again and still had the same problem. Tried the mag from my Russian in the Romanian and same problem. Tried the Romanian mag in the Russian and same problem. Tried the Chinese mag in the Romanian and BINGO, problem solved. Tried the Romanian mag in the Chinese pistol and that was good too. So now I have..

A Russian that shoots good with a Russian or Chinese mag.

A Romanian that only shoots good with a Chinese mag.

A Chinese that shoots good with all the mags.

I still don't know what the exact problem was but all three pistols are going pew pew pew now as they should. .
