Mauser ID

Post by steelbuttplate »

This rifle is looking like a K98 void of markings, except 7.92 and this three leaf design. It looks kinda like this only inverted. Any Idea who made it ?

I finally saw one on another rifle. Spanish. When did they make 8 mm mausers ?

It 's a K 98 version, not a 1916. What did they call it ?

Capt4K is correct. What would they call it? Probably a short rifle - 1893 cut down. Could even be a scrubbed M1933. Need to see pictures of the gun though. I'm not even convinced that it's Spanish..

Spanish made model 1943 in 8mm mauser. These were used in the 1950`s to make the FR-8 rifle in 7.62 nato.

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
