Experience with AIM Surplus Mosin-Nagants?
Hi all,
Still waiting to pick up my 91/30 that I ordered from AIM Surplus. I was wondering if anybody has had previous experience (good, bad, or indifferent) with ordering their imports sight unseen. Has anyone done the "extra ten dollars for a hand picked rifle" deal? I'll love the rifle no matter what shape it's in, and I can't wait to find out it's history.
Thanks,
Sticks

I have ordered 6 mosin nagants from them. 2 were ex dragoons and only had to pay the $10 hand pick fee above the hex price. All rifles were in excellent condition. Great people to deal with.

That's pretty good Siam. Did you ask for the ex's or those were the luck of the draw?

Re: Experience with AIM Surplus Mosin-Nagants?
I've bought 10 Mosins from them since Thanksgiving. No problems here. The frist 6 I bought from a Black Friday sale and the next 4 were when they had the Laminate M91/30s for sale. I made threads about them all but haven't finished the laminate thread. Actually Brad started the Weldon's Update thread. The first link is that thread. The second is one of the Laminates (I'll get around to finishing that when I can) with pictures of one of them. The last link was the thread I started telling everyone here that AIM had thelamintes. Look down the page and you'll see a post where I have all four on a rack straight out of the box. Those when all Tula and I had Bryan handpick them for me. All of the laminates were really really nice shiny bores. He even threw in a couple of tee-shirts for me.

I just asked for a Tula and Izhevsk between 1925 and 1928. They charged me $10 over the hex price. Total $100 each + shipping.desdem12 wrote:That's pretty good Siam. Did you ask for the ex's or those were the luck of the draw?

Nice. I would pay that for the ex dragoons.

Thanks for the responses, guys. Do the guys at AIM know about the forum? Are they cool with special requests like that?

I would just give them a call and ask them, problem is they are temporarily about out of nearly everything but that is only temporary as they claim to be expecting new arrivals.

I always got good service from Aim, bought maybe 20 firearms all told from them over three years, Mosins of course, K31, various Finn's, and others. I loved their scratch and dent sales, they would post maybe 20 rifles with minor damage and 20,000 of us would be waiting for the clock to strike 8am so we could start speed dialing the phone. I would start it about five minutes before and I got lucky one time and picked up a nice transitional M91/30 with Finn markings for $75, it had a very minor stock crack.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
