You caught me on a broke day, I blew all my money on cookies and ice cream, the rest I wasted, can't help you, try the bank loan officer.

OK, best deal I could find for you is one dime, the vig is a benny a week until you kick back the full. No collateral needed, just your knees. Hope that K98 is worth it.

The only help he could need while standing in front of the rifle is money, he's caught a bit light and needs that rifle. He couldn't possibly be asking for us to explain the rifle to him, because that sort of thing is something one covers well before starting out for the show.

If the seller is asking for more money based on that marking, more than the same condition rifle without such marking, and can't provide clear provenance then it's fake. SS rune markings are the most faked markings of any military markings on any milsurp rifle in history.

This would have been hard to fake. It's been lightly stamped, except for the 44, and is nearly worn off. But you can still make it out, it's all positioned and font like other examples, Been here a while. It's in a beautiful custom wood stock that's woth$150. I guess got a deal for $215. Who will be judge and jury of my beers to say '"its a rune, or it's not a rune". Do we have to find an SS hiding in Argentina ? I could ask Sweaty Ben . :no2:

Am I reading this correctly? A sportered Mauser with Rune mark for $215? I'm assuming the metal is unaltered & it has a $150 custom stock you say? Of course who gives a flying crap on a Rune mark if the metal was buggered up by bubba & his inbred clan. But if the bore is good, metal is good, still has all the original hardware, and all it needs is a correct stock? Buy it I say...

If you want an 8mm hunting rifle, buy it. If you are looking to restore it, forget it.

Where is this rune you speak of?

SS contract rifles really aren't that rare. Single rune wrong stock is not going to bring you thousands even if in right stock. Even if all original in original stock you are looking at $1800. However for $215 you won't lose money.

Hard to tell if the rest of the rifle is unmolested. I'm all about saving guns... but there's a fine line with saving and humping.
