Chinese Type 53 w/ Vietnam bring back papers

Post by lthilsdorf »

I have an SKS with a set of Vietnam bringback documents but haven't come across a fairly priced example of a Type 53, so when I saw this one on Gunbroker for a reasonable price I placed a bid and won.

Rifle is mismatched, but looks to be all Chinese made parts. The stock looks lightly sanded and refinished. I actually like the look of the color to the stock, so I'm not too bothered by that. The paperwork is complete, including the export license on the "onion skin" type of paper.

Just a nice example of a Vietnam bring back Type 53. I also own an example with a presentation plaque on the butt stock.

They did some extended shooting with that one, to burn the forend off. You see that area replaced on many Russian stocks.

One of my DD,-214s has me listed as deployed for Desert Storm from 1990 to 1996. We didnt catch that one until much later. They screwed my RE code up twice before they got it right.

Enemy weapon, VC weapon, Chinese Communist rifle, all these they knew well, Mosin? What the fuck is that? Bannerman had some creative spellings for these also in the 1940/43 supplement catalog.

The NLA weren't the ARVN, little fuckers were dangerous, and dedicated, lot of names on the wall because of them. Most of these captured type 53's look well used, that's because they got out in the shit and engaged Uncle Sam with them, no Italian army type shit going on with never fired and only dropped once. My own was captured in a godawful place that later had a movie made about it. In the vicinity of hill 937 a little less than year after the events in the movie according to the vet who brought it home.
