Mosin owner and Russian family

Post by brews4me »

I've had a Mosin for quite a while, then I acquired a Russian wife from Siberia while I worked there for about 10 years.
Also have 2 Russian speaking kids.

Eager to learn more about these rifles and the many versions they seem to have, it is a blast to shoot and I have a bunch of firearms. It is more fun than almost any of them!

I've got a 1927 step barrel also, only about 2000 off from your, with SN 8817. Mine is built on a 1894 Izhevsk receiver.

I'm not big on Mosin's but I've acquired a few over the years. I'll be making a new thread dedicated to my recent acquisition.

Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, I don't have a Finnish Mosin Nagant in my small collection. I wish I did. However, I know you have come to the right place, as there are many Finnish rifle collectors here. Please show us some photos of your rifles.

Welcome aboard.
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Hello everyone, my name's Russ and I've been an avid gun enthusiast for 36 years, having started the journey during my first term in the Air Force, from which I've long-since retired. I recently acquired my first Mosin (M44) this past July and I couldn't be happier for having done so. It needed some TLC, but I got it at a real bargain and it was a fun project. I did restore the stock, out of dire necessity, and I'll go no further with that detail, per forum rules. The bore was filthy and took several scourings before I finally got clean patch out of the muzzle, which is counterbored, the rifling being less than crisp, but still functional. It's a 1944 vintage with Ishevsk markings and I had to replace the missing bayonet package (shank, spring, latch, and screw) along with the rear sight. Found both on-line and have since fitted them to the weapon successfully. I have yet to do a range test, but that'll be forthcoming in the near future. I like the classics and I have some other iconic examples from the WW2 era, and I'm always on the lookout for additions to the collection. Anyway, sorry if I got a little long-winded in my intro, it's great to be here and I look forward to more interaction with everyone...

Hi there, been a gun collector / nerd for ages but admittedly am somewhat new to Mosins, so I'm here to learn.

Currently National Guard Infantry Squad Leader, spent some time "backpacking in South West Asia", and been shooting for 20+ years.

Greetings. There is a lot of knowledge here free for the asking. One of the world's top experts on the subject honors us with his thoughts on the Mosin-Nagant rifles. Unlike some gun forums, questions are dealt with as if among friends, instead of the learned professor speaking down to the unwashed and ignorant masses, so feel free to ask. The only thing that gets our panties in a wad are questions about permanent modifications to the rifles. We love gun porn, so feel free to show us your Mosin children.

Check out the informational sub-forums in the bar at the top of the page.

Welcome and enjoy your stay.
