150 grain Sierra Spitzer bullets
I’m wondering why the overall length of an 150 grain Spitzer round is so much shorter than a 148 grain FMJ round?

Just a guess, but the Sierra is a lead bullet. The surplus FMJ are usually steel core and would have to be longer to weigh the same.

Re: 150 grain Sierra Spitzer bullets
Here is what Kari taught me to use. And this guy knew just about everything about reloading. It's how I started with him showing me how.
Hogden H380 powder 50 grains
Sierra .311 DIA. 303 cal 150 GR. Spitzer
I don't use anything else. Kari told me every rifle shoot a different load. He used to reload rounds with as little a a few grains difference in each and fire them in the same rifle till he found what worked best.
For those of you that didn't know Kari, that's really too bad.

Kari Prager was a true gentleman. He helped me a lot when I started reloading. He was a big fan of the H380. The only problem I have ever had with it is that you can run into ignition problems when the temps fall to freezing or below.dolk wrote:Here is what Kari taught me to use.
