Monarch and Tula shoot better than S&B and PPU out of my 1954 Romanian M44. The reloads that I have started reloading shoot better than anything.

Interesting as Monarch is a house brand made by PPU. I have found that my different rifles tend to like different ammo.
FREEDOM...USE IT OR LOSE IT!!

The Monarch steel case is Brown Bear, the brass is PPU. My favorite 91/30 likes the Monarch and the S&B, the Tulammo not so much.Longcolt44 wrote:Interesting as Monarch is a house brand made by PPU. I have found that my different rifles tend to like different ammo.

The 123 grain Hornady bullets and 174 grain Hornady bullets shoot good tight groups, but the 150 grain Privi are all over the place. I’m thinking of putting a Timney trigger when I get some money.

Don't put a timney trigger in a MN. Go buy a modern .308 if you want a target rifle.Boehm wrote:The 123 grain Hornady bullets and 174 grain Hornady bullets shoot good tight groups, but the 150 grain Privi are all over the place. I’m thinking of putting a Timney trigger when I get some money.

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
C. S. Lewis

The main thing that scares me about the Timney trigger is having to do woodwork on my stock to make it fit.millman wrote:Don't put a timney trigger in a MN. That's reason enough for me not to do it.

I have a CZ 527 chambered in 7.62x39. I have had it for more than a year and it is pretty accurate with iron sights, but I am going to put a scope on it soon and start reloading for it to reach out further.millman wrote:Go buy a modern .308 if you want a target rifle.Boehm wrote:The 123 grain Hornady bullets and 174 grain Hornady bullets shoot good tight groups, but the 150 grain Privi are all over the place.
