Hello again.
How do i go about figuring out a price to sell my collection of Mosins. I am in the process of figuring out downsizing and moving. Will a estate auction bring out the buyers is what i am wondering.
Re: Hellow again.
yes,an Estate Auction will bring out buyers..Will they know anything about the value of a Mosin Nagant..Probably not.
Your best bet is to look on GunBroker and see what the type of rifles you have are SELLING for.Get knowledge before you sell.
Then sell them here or to people that know their worth elsewhere.
Good luck.

Re: Hellow again.
When you go to an estate sale you are looking for a good deal, right? Firearms are seldom seen at estate sales in my area (North Texas/Dallas) because the estate sale professionals bring in gun people before the sales ever open to the general public. They often buy everything and at wholesale prices. If you have seen different I'd be interested in hearing other's experience.
If you have a large lot you might consider a reputable gun shop to put them on consignment. They take an amount off the top and give the rest to the owner. Otherwise you might just be selling on your own and if you don't know what you'll take for them based on their value you'll possibly get hosed.

Re: Hellow again.
Just how many Mosins are you selling? I think under 10 you may sell them on gun broker or any auction site like that. If you are selling over 10 contact Rock Island Auction. They will handle everything for you and get you the most exposure and money to you.

Re: Hellow again.
I have been consigning some at a local gun shop. He is getting top dollar, so I do not begrudge him his fee. The good thing is that going this route is that when a gun is sold, it is sold. Nobody coming back whining that it will not shoot like a high end target rifle or that there is a scratch under the buttplate. No shipping hassles, no FFL hassles, I am not stood up by someone promising to meet, just a good clean sell. I am paying 15% on the sale which is higher than some shops, but to me it is worth it to deal with a reputable person I can trust. I set a minimum price that I am willing to sell for, and within a few weeks most of them disappear.

I know I'm new on this site. Here is where the Mosin collectors are at. Why not put them on here ? You could give members a better price because ya don't have to pay a third party
Re: Hellow again.
Probably the best thing to do is to talk to some local gun stores. Their fees can get kind of expensive though. If you want to know what they are worth, you can go to GunBroker and do a search on completed auctions. Throw out the high and low and the result will be your likely selling price unless you have something special.
