I want to track down Bubba and beat him to death!!!

Post by Longcolt44 »

Yes, I want to hang him by his thumbs with barbed wire over a fire pit until the wire melts. You don't know how much I had to clean that up in case ladies or small children were in the room.

I have been searching fo just the right GEW 98 Mauser since I saw JYD's on the old forum about 10 years ago. My wants were made true when this one came in to the shop for sale. Ron bought it for an obscene small amount and it sat for a week or so and he agreed to sell it to me cheap with a big smile on his face, ( for a reason you will see later). This is why I started this thread the way I did. Some idiot had started to cut down the barrel, stock and nose cap with Bubba's favorite tool, the hacksaw.

This is an all matching Berlin GEW 98 with excellent furniture, metal and a good bore. What possessed him to only go half way and stop I can only guess. I'm hoping somebody caught him in the act and beat him bloody with his hacksaw. Enough of my bitching I will let the pictures explain.

One more thing. The difference in the pictures is due to my first outing with a new camera and lighting system.

That is a shame. What the hell was he thinking? It looks like to me that he just wanted to render it useless.

That’s just bad wrong. Can you get the seller’s name and go beat him?

I agree. A home demil job. I once saw a K98 with 3 holes drilled into the barrel under the rear sight. It was part of an award that was given to a service member while he was in Germany in the 80s. It was very dangerous, because one wouldn't have seen the holes unless the rear sight was flipped up.

S42 rear sight, been updated by the Nazi's . You know it took me 25 years to find a good GEW because of shit just like this,
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Now I have the 1906 Spandau with EWB markings and the 1917 DWM with the same rear sight as this one

Maybe bubbas wife got it in the divorce and he said I will fix her! Only reason I can think of why someone would do something like that. It is a shame.
