Re: New MeRemington Mosin

Post by parhur »

hello started collecting military rifles and I pick up a Remington mosin today but it is a carbine. Did Remington ever make a carbine and the only marks on the gun that I can find is the Remington crest and serial #. Could it be possible that the Remington name has been filed off. Any thoughts would be helpful thanks

Give us some photos. There are a couple of ways it could be legit, but it sounds like a bubba.

Definitely sportered. Not worth the effort IMHO. It probably shoots good. I would leave it at that.

Hey, I’m Jon. Recently started collecting C & R firearms. I must say I am jealous as to some of the Mosins you guys have! I live near Chicago and can’t find much that isn’t overpriced or beat to hell.

Hi...I'm Jim...new to the forum and a relative newbie to the world of milsurps and Mosins...I've wanted a Mosin Nagant for a long time. I've seen and drooled over photos of them on the web and shot a friends (this really made me want one). I looked around and shopped around and for a long time couldn't find the "right" one...Finally, last summer, my LGS had bought out a collection of about 30 MN rifles and I had some to choose from. I chose a really nice Tula 1937 91/30 (matching numbers) and I was hooked! I now have that rifle, an Izhevsk (1937) 91/30 and a 1944 M44...I joined this forum to learn all I can about Mosin Nagants and I'm looking forward to diving in! Thanks for admitting me!

Greetings, I'm Ken. First found Mosins when I was looking for parts for my dad's Frommer STOP. Finally got one, a 1931 dated Tula Hex receiver. Once I get the cosmoline cleaned off and have it checked I'll be heading to the range. Looking forward to that! From Richmond VA.

Greeting to all and Thank you for allowing me to be part of what looks like a very impressive Forum on the "Poccnn W :BBQ2: eapons/Russian Mosin Nagant Rifle". I truly never wanted anything to do with the USSR or the communist block countries; (Warsaw Pact ). They were the enemy of America and NATO.
Being a cold war warrior vet we didn't embrace our ememies weapons.
Fast forward almost into my early sixties, my outlook has softened a bit.
I have always been impressed by the Russian People; and I'm looking forward into learning more about their weapons/ culture.
For the record I don't own any Russian/Warsaw Bloc weapons; Back in my day, they were cheap and plentiful. I only bought stuff from Friendly Nations; including France; if you can call them friendly, But that another story.
Glad to be here, Hooah!

All the best to one and all

Hello All.
I am a new member but have owned Mosins for several years now. I'm an FFL holder in MI. Currently have a Tula hex 1932, an Izhevsk 1944 M38 and an Izhevsk 1944 ex-sniper. Looking forward to learning more about these great weapons.

Greetings,

I'm Korsico. Here mostly to lurk and learn. No Mosin's of my own at this point but I do have an SVT buried in the safe so I'm not a complete stranger to soviet arms.

Hi all

I just got a Ishevsk M38 1943 production with very strange markings.

Do any of you recognize any of these markings?
