Unissued (?) May 1943 Remington Model 11R Riot Gun

Post by BryanJ »

New member here, and thought you guys might enjoy photos of the May 1943 Remington M11R I recently got at a local auction. I've gone thorough Bruce Canfield's shotgun book, and the serial number, date stamps on the barrell, inspector stamps on the stock, barrell, and receiver are all correct. There were 500+ guns from a private collection in this auction, but this gun was largely ignored by bidders, probably because the photos were not good and the auction advertisement listed the incorrect barrell length which probably discouraged most serious collectors from bidding. It has a new home now. Comments?

Damn Steve, what he do, piss in your corn flakes?

Nice Shotgun, good eye, or good gambling instincts if you bought it off crappy pictures.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

It's pretty bad when your really old brother, who was adopted, invites you to join his gun forum, only to trash talk.

Junk Yard. Thanks for the kind words. Yep, sort of a gamble, I figured the auction house just didn't know how to correctly measure the barrel length which they also did on another shotgun as well. Pictures were good enough to take a chance.

Jim, he doesn't gamble. I think he made a pact with the devil to get good gun deals. Midas doesn't have anything on him.

Very nice.
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
