Assault Weapons Ban of 2018

Post by awalker1829 »

If you haven’t gone to the General Discussion Forum and read the thread there-do it now. Click on the link to the proposed bill and read it. This could potentially negatively affect almost every semiautomatic firearm on the market. This is no joke, the proposed bill really is this bad. Don’t take my word for it-read it yourselves and then contact your Congressman.

Their goal is not a semi-auto ban but to repeal the 2 nd Amendment

I don't think these people clearly understand that the Constitution is more than " just some piece of paper", it's what keeps us from simply killing them. I do believe it's going to come to that soon enough, civility and cooperation are gone, replaced by unreasonable hate that the haters would be hard pressed to articulate the reasons for. I have no problem with people living as they choose, choose not to have a gun, choose to not eat meat, choose to not smoke, choose to marry who, or what ever. I don't give a fuck so long as they are not at the same time trying to pass laws to force me to support their choices with tax breaks, special privileges, and take away the things in my life that I value. My antique cars are polluters and should be legislated out of existence, my guns threaten them and should be banned, my cigars should be taxed out of my reach, I shouldn't be allowed to hunt down and kill tasty animals and wear their skins, and so on. I am willing to let the leftists live as they please, but they insist on legislating my lifestyle out of existence. At some point a line will be crossed and lessons will have to be taught.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Best bet is to find a pro 2nd amendment candidate and vote for them on Nov 6th.

Doesn’t stop them from trying even with Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court. Having said that, voting is the only way to get to these people out of Congress.

They think getting rid of firearms will end domestic terror. I include mass shootings as domestic terror. Even if they could hypothetically get rid of every gun in the United States, bad people would kill good people in other ways. They'd drive trucks into crowds of people like they do in Europe. Mustang drivers in the U.S. are already practicing for that. It's a highly effective way of killing a lot of people.

Honestly we're not the ones that need to be discussing this with each other. We all know how members of this forum will vote and what laws we support. None of our minds need to be changed and few of us need to be called to action. The way you make a difference is by talking to the people who want to increase regulations on or outlaw firearms. We need to show them that we're good people and that guns are not evil. Many of them are just uncomfortable with guns because they have not been around them much and have a stereotype of what gun owners are like. I surprise a lot of people when I tell them I own guns and I've won a lot of anti-gun people over to my side by showing them how stable and responsible I am.

Dems are constantly proposing Anti 2A bills. They won't go anywhere with the majority GOP will have in the Senate. Also RBG may be on her way out.

Tilting at windmills.

There is always going to be a assault weapons ban bill. One day it may even stick (again).

I'm waiting for the "assault pistol ban".

So far the gun control fanatics have aimed most of their fanaticism at the AR-15, saying it is a military weapon of war designed to kill people. They're running rampant on our streets and have no place in the hands of civilians. -That's the rhetoric.

They have not yet figured out that the Thousand Oaks, California shooter used a.45 caliber pistol, likely a 1911. They have not yet figured out that the 1911 actually is a military weapon of war designed to kill people. It's cartridge was specifically designed to produce one shot kills and is perhaps more destructive to the human body than 223 Remington. They have not yet figured out that this tactical military pistol of destruction has been sold to the civilian public -in unmodified military form- for one hundred years. They have not figured out that they likely pass within 10 feet of one that is concealed by a law-abiding citizen every day.

They have also not figured out that their grandfather shot Nazis with one in France then carried it home and kept it under the seat of his pickup truck for the next 40 years while their mother rode over it in the passenger's seat next to him, and then they rode in that same seat with the same gun under the seat where it's always been. They just never knew about the gun or the story because grandpa didn't share his war stories and didn't tell people he had a gun in his truck. Grandpa was smart. Be like grandpa. Fight fascists to the death and don't tell people you are armed.

So that's what I'm waiting for. It could be any reasonably powerful pistol, but the 1911 makes a good example.

Cool story but the guy in Calif. used a Glock 21 gen 4 in .45 with an extended magazine. Calif. already went for the ammo. A common citizen must go to a gun shop to buy ammo, no internet, and leave fingerprints and have a note from his mom.

Yeah I was making a rhetorical point by guessing it was a 1911. I didn't know what kind of gun he used other than it was .45 ACP. You got my point. "Scary military weapon if war handgun designed to kill people".

So now they'll want to ban Glocks instead of 1911's. That's better, I suppose.

They’re working on that now. See my post on House Resolution 7115 that will be introduced by the Democrats in the next Congress. It’s in the General Discussion Page.

I hope you’re right. Still, we need to watch that space and make certain that the politicians understand that they will be voted out by an angry electorate.

They were voted in by an angry electorate. Which angry electorate are you talking about? There are two.
