Thank you. Did you know the Cattaragus grips came scuffed from the factory? I only learned that in the last year.

I did actually know that. Better grip. Some of them sell cheap because of that "damage."
The Quartermaster knife is one tough cookie. It is thick and heavy enough to be used as axe, pry bar, can opener, and still take an edge that will shave. I also like the RH-36 and have several.

I have a couple RH-36 too. As you know they aren't real Quartermaster, but that one someone cut the pommel so it looks close. I have my RH35 and RH37 are shown in the other groups. I also have a cool RH-34 with signal Corps emblem carved in sheath and laundry number. I will post later
Where are the most likely places to find old fighting knives? My kid is an amateur collector of bayonets so I've been getting the knife bug just seeing his collection. We're headed down into the US soon and trying to figure out best places to visit for old milsurp. Pawn shops? Junk stores? I'm not into paying retail so the "hole in the wall" method is cool with me. Any suggestions? I really want to find a Pilots knife with the big old bolt on the end or maybe something else just as cool.

I just sold one of those Pilots Knives. Camillus 1967 went for $84 on eBay. I paid $30 a couple years ago.
U.S. Knives have sky rocketed in value. I still won't pay more than $100 and most I have paid under $50. Flea markets, Pawn Shops, Antique shops, yard sales, and eBay is where mine came from.
Got my NY made KaBar, and my Buck knife, neither cost me a hundred bucks, both will last well past my lifetime 'cause there not cheap shit. Knife, not a place you want to go cheap, your life might depend on that thin piece of steel. You want one made out of premium grade steel crafted by an expert, or one hammered out of a trash can lid by Omar the tentmaker in his spare time? Uncle didn't issue crap so you wont go wrong with any GI Joe issued knife.

I rarely find military knives on my frequent junking expeditions. I do spend long hours on ebay searching for bargains. If you invest enough time you can occasionally get some good deals. The only military knife I have paid a hundred bucks for is a PAL RH-36 that was in unissued condition. The average price I have paid for military fixed blade knives is under fifty bucks. It is not hard to find an RH-36 for $35.00.
The Jet Pilot knife you would like to have can be found on Ebay. They are excellent knives. Be cautious, there are a lot of cheap imitations. Do a little research, know what you are looking at, be patient and you will find a nice, Vietnam era JPK for $50.00.
I may have to bite the bullet and spend big money to complete my Western Knives. Shark I have bought for $40 even G8 and L77 I paid $90 each. L76 which is the double edge stiletto is closer to $500 or more when one comes up for sale. I've seen L77 which is the single edge sell for $450 lately. I also need a L71 which is similar to a MkI and the Kabar MkI both can be found under $100.

The L71 is on my list, the others are just more money than I want to spend on the blades.
Never really paid attention to these knifes but, here is my Dad's old hunting knife he got during WWII. I guess he was able to snatch it when leaving or something. I actually didn't realize it was a military knife till he passed away and it was given to me. Don't know a lot about it though.
