another 1000 rounds

Post by Darryl »

Just got 1000 rounds to pad up my 9mm x 18 (MAK) ammo.

Now I'm ready for the zombies! :chuckles:

Things just got a little tougher for California to mail order ammo. It must go to a FFL dealer, or a licensed ammo dealer, or to a 03FFL with a CALIF. COE. I'm the latter so it doesn't matter to me. I can get what I want. And right now I'm maxed out for ammo!!!

Did a partial count of my ammo safe today
3,000 plus rounds of 7.62 x 54r
1,500 plus rounds of 9mm x 18 (MAK)
2,000 plus rounds of 30-06 (for the M1 Garand)
1,500 plus rounds of 7.62 x 39
2,500 rounds of .223
500 rounds of m1 carbine
5,000 rounds of .22 LR
500 rounds of .22 mag
800 rounds of .45 acp
200 rounds of .577 Snider
300 rounds of 45-70 Trap door
one 500 round battle pack of 8 x 56r German
Not sure what is in a case of 12ga., but 2 cases of it (not boxes)! I know at least 6 boxes are OO

Well, that's the bulk ammo. I have a lot of opened containers that I am using from.

Not sure if I can sell ammo in the state. That would be interesting.

I think I have one old bullet someplace, dented and corroded, probably for some rifle I used to have before I sold everything many years ago and the twister came along and carried away my house with all the rest of the shooty and stabby things inside. I will give it away if I find it, I have no need of such things here in the monastery.

Yes, I loaded all that ammo up to day and went fishing.

Did you know that a 12 foot row boat can't hold that much ammo afloat? Went down like a rock. Now I have to start all over again.

That's what you get for naming it the SS Titanic, see? I did warn you.

No such thing as too much ammo. Friend said minimum of 5,000 rounds per caliber. Have tried to meet that. One spam can 7.62x 54 r and one 1943 91/30 -= 1 pig. God Bless America. Pro Libertate Patria.

Seems a bit meagre, but it's a start. I have a "fair bit" of ammo, too. I would feel better if I had warehouse full.

I have trouble bringing myself to shoot nice old brass cased surplus ammo. I bought some really nice 8mm FNM stuff back in the 70's and have kept most of it. I found a good supply of ugly Yugo 8x57 and have shot off a fair bit of that stuff. I have a bit of Argentine surplus, as well as 6.5x55 surplus, plus lots of 54r and 39. I shoot reloads mostly in my Lee Enfields and a nice old 1942 Springfield Garand.

I’m trying to keep a minimum of 1000 rds per caliber that I shoot a lot...

Getting close on some, way over on others.

Probably 20,000 rds of .22LR because I have so many of those guns...

About 1000 rds 9mm

About 450 rds of 30-30 for my Sears model 54 lever gun

1200 rds .223/5.56

About 900 rds 7.62x54r

About 700 rds of .38 special

About 500 rds 45 acp

About 600 rds of 22 wmr

I’m tryin not to buy new calibers... running out of room

:beek: :vconfused: I thought I had a stash, but it is miniscule compared to yours. I thought if you had that much in California, they declared you mentally unstable? In Mississippi, they would simply deem you well-prepared for any contingency.

I picked up two Spam Cans of 7.62x54R in the last week and a half. Haven't opened one yet, but one can I got was really rusty on the outside- Guy at the shop said Termites ate the wooden crate, and thats why it got rusty... Ammo inside was perfect. 60/86 headstamp, steel core, but no paint on the tips. So I guess now, I have about 1700 rds of 7.62x54R

I am good for a while. I don't shoot my mosins that often, but I need to get out more :)

Finding spam cans of 7.62x54r is becoming rare these days. My stash is down to four spam cans of Russian and Bulgarian surplus from the 80's. I bought them for less than 100I have been shooting a 500 round case of LVE (188 factory) for the past two years, but I am down to less than 100 rounds of that. Luckily, I have a 350 round lot of Yugoslav 182 grain heavy ball that I shoot in a 1933 Izhevsk M91/30, so I guess I am pretty well stocked. I have also been handloading some 7.62x54r in PPU cases with 123 grain Lapua bullets. So I guess all total I have about 2300 rounds of 7.62x54r. My goal is to shoot the stuff up before I croak.

Igrlik, I would really like to get my hands on some that Slovakian .380 ACP ammo you have. Are those colorful bullets non-lead or just coated?
